| age to Breed I have a question. I am not a breeder and do not plan to breed but I noticed that some yorkie moms are only one year old. I alway thought a dog was to be two years old to be breed.

| With large breed dogs they usually wait until 2 or even three. I think most small breeds are bred in their second heat, or even in their first if they are close to a year old. |

| I have hear on the 2nd heat, I have heard at 2 years. I suppose it depends on who you ask. Either way it is important to make sure the dog has reached full adulthood so that 1) she has traits as an adult that will determine if she is of breeding quality and 2) so that she is emotionally mature and ready to be a mother |

| Its hard for me to belive that someone would breed a baby under two. I have a 17 month old spayed female Maltese and she is such a baby herself I could not see her being a mommy. We have a Yorkie named Chance and he is 5 months old. When they play I am having to tell Pearl he is a baby all the time because at times she get to mean with him. When I got Chance my yorkie getting him fixed was on top of my to do list even though Pearl is spayed. The reason is that when I first got Pearl a lot of people friends and strangers would ask me about breeding their other breed type to mine. My husband sister even called and asked if she got a male would I breed them with her. As soon as pearl was six months old I had her fixed this has put an end to that. It is not easy to say no but it is to say sorry she is spayed. I know it is because most who meet Pearl cant help but fall in love with her. It also seems not a lot of people have seen a Maltese. .

| It was hard for me because one was my husband bosses wife. One was his sister. I was shocked and upset but to weak to say no. I always said we will have to see when she gets older. But now I say sorry she had to be spayed for health reason. Now I wounder if she was not so darn sweet if the would of asked the same thing. My daughter has a full drawer of clothes and Pearl is dressed when people come over, this makes he even more cute.

| If you breed under two, even in males they have a tendency to loose focus and play more than mate~
