Not so much a rookie...you know what not to do... Inbreeding is something I don't know much about, as the most experience breeders that I know, have not done it, at least not shared there experiences with me. Or it could be that they feel I'm not far enough along to share that with. I've never asked about it, since I've had no reason to want to attempt it.....I'm crazy, but not insane or stupid. So, I have no words of expertise, wisdom or otherwise. |
Well since it has already been done, there is nothing any of us can do except God. Like I was saying in the recent posts, it was an accident, we were not practicing breeding nor did we want to start breeding. But here we are, we got 4 pups getting ready to be brought in the world and no matter what is wrong with them I am sure that they are going to be beautiful, just the way God intended. She has not had them yet, but it is getting really really close. I am praying for the best and hope that the whelping goes by smoothly and with no difficulties. I understand that you guys were trying to help and whatnot but with the posts that I have been reading it just sort of seemed like you guys did not believe that it was an accident. I did not think anything of it when she got pregnant. I was told by my closest friends that they had heard that you just get smaller yorkies when you breed them, and that is what I was asking the breeders here on this site. Thank you for your concerns and advice. |
breeding You may find a size reduction in the pups...you may also find them all healthy..it will just depend on what genetic faults are in the line and what pups get what, if anything..the problems of a close inbreeding does not always show at 8 or 12 weeks..or even 12 months...some genetic problems come later in life..for this reason it is always best to be up front with the new owner, telling them the puppies are closely inbred and allow them to decide...of course one look at the pedigree will tell anyone what happened. Accidental breedings happen, repeated "accidental" breedings do not... |
Yes I know repeated breedings like this are not accidental, however this was the first time it has happened. It will not happen again I can tell you that much lol I got shocked into scared mode when everyone was telling me about the defects, but I got over the fact. It is not my, my mothers or anyone elses fault..... it just sort of happened:thumbdown but nothing to do but hope for the best right? I mean there might not be anything at all wrong with them for all I know, right?:) ;) :D |

Sounds to me after reading your posts that you really wanted this to kinda happen, you certainly werent trying for it not to happen. Why have neither of these dogs been fixed?? It is soooo easy to keep your dogs in seperate rooms. Too late now, I wish you luck. |

The male can only get his female chromosome from his Mom. Therefore, it was recommended that we never breed Mother to Son because it was doubling up on the same chromosome. Creating genetic defects. Some of which may not be visable, but mental. Please be up front with the new owners, so they may be able to avoid or at least understand problems that may arise. Fault is neither here nor there, but spaying and neutering early will prevent any accidental breeding. IMO Wishing you luck with the babies. |
