We will have puppies later on tonight! I took her temp this morning and it was 98.8 and again like 5 minutes ago and it is 98.8. We will have some action tonight I will keep you guys posted! |
:cheer: :cheer: Puppies :cheer: :cheer: Ok, stay calm, and she will be calm too;) it just might be a long night. Hugs to Mom, and best of luck too ;) ;) ;) :hearts-xx (camera ready?) :D |
Camera is ready:) Camera and I are ready for tonight, I also have some pics of her tummy, she looks like she is ready to burst lol She weighs around 10-13 pounds. For some reason the vet did not weigh her when we took her for the sonogram. Is there any suggestions you guys have when the pups are born to tell them apart without having to turn them upside down? |
Oh, hey, someone made a wonderful suggestion after my last litter was a couple of weeks old and it wouldn't have been any use to me. LOL Use a permanent marker on their tummies. Number them or alphabetize them. For myself none of them are ever exactly the same so I just look them over very carefully and write down the differences. The next litter I have I will use the marker cause I think that just makes it so much easier. Sylvia |
How exciting!!! Please keep us posted on the puppies...can't wait to see pictures. :) Tammy |
I have thought I heard little meows before when I have taken in a stray pregnant cat. We all cant be crazy, can we  LOL. I know I have a very strong maternal instint so possibly its telepathy or does that even sound crazier, lol. Good luck |

Maybe what you all are hearing is the mom's making little noises. Sylvia |

Hi. I would like to ask the few of you who said you work, how much time do you take off when you have the puppies normally? When do you go back and how does that work out with little puppies?? If you dont mind sharing with me please. I am planning my first litter soon and am trying to get an idea of how much time to take off. |

I don't work, but maybe I can address this....the first two weeks after the whelping are the most crucial in a puppy's young life and that of the mother...monitoring and taking care of them is pretty much around the clock. Mothers have to be monitored to make sure that they are healthy and eating enough to supply milk. Even at weaning time and and when they're eating you must make sure puppies are getting at least 5 meals a day. In actuality I don't get much sleep the 1st month. |
I would use my vacation time so I can spend time with the little uns |
