QUESTION: When ur yorkie is preggers..... When your yorkie is pregnant, does she seem to have more 'accidents' than usual? Lily has been pooping on the carpet/throw rug when usually she was really good about using her pad or going outside. Or is she just being lazy????? I get so mad at her, but I don't want to spank her since she's carrying puppies, so I just tell her 'No' sternly, but she keeps doing it every single day for the last week or so!!! grrr  |
Their personalities can change so much while they are pregnant. Be patient with her and limit the areas of the house that she can go to. |

So is that to say you normally spank her as punishment when she ISN'T carrying them? |

Yes i'll tap her butt sometimes. What's wrong with that??? I'm not beating my dogs! |

Well the question was about poopin' on the floor. No reason to bring up subjects that are unnecessary imo. Mind yer own bizness! :thumbdown |

You brought it up.....  |

pooping? yes i did bring that up. |
~be nice people~ |
People on YT have strong feelings about "tapping" or "spanking" any dogs ever. Most of us do not agree with it ever. Positive reinforcement goes along way. |

And yes, we all do have very strong feelings about spanking and/or "tapping" as a training method. Positive reinforcment is something that you may wish to consider and you can find a lot of information about that here on YT. |
thanks so much for everyone's input on the topic of spanking and whenever i need help on that topic, i'll be sure to post a thread about it. Everyone is entitled to their feelings, but everyone is entitled to discipline the way they want to. This thread is only about pooping on the floor when pregnant, so can we at least keep to the subject at hand? |
i had a huge lab, and i had only ever spanked her once. She was 2 years old and had grabbed a squirrel in our backyard and she thought i was playing with her when i yelled and ran after her so i caught up with her and spanked her on the behind.. she dropped the squirrel and thank god it was fine, she was fine, i didnt spank her hard, just to get her to turn around and acknowledge me. and this was a HUGEE LAB that stopped and noticed, so imagine the effect on a lil yorkie |

Well that was a very rude thing to say. Nice to know who's bitchy on this board and who's helpful. Thanks for making me feel thoroughly attacked. (Typical for this site though.) thanks again to the one person who actually answered my initial question. |
I've been attacked on this site about pet breeding without showing myself, (no shows within 100-150 miles from me) so it's annoying when you only want an answer to something to have everyone jumping down your throat, no matter how well intended they might think they are. You are only human, and I'm sure you are not hurting them, a tap is a tap, not a spank....don't do it myself tho as my three are only 4lbs. My usual is "tut tut TUT" if it's that naughty and they listen to my voice - it's a very rare thing to them needing being told ;) They are too cute and too good, lol :luvu: PREGGERS and POOPING ON THE CARPET - My wee one is preggers too (hopefully) - day 32 - and no accidents yet;) I think it is just that she is upset in her hormones and also the pressure of all those puppies pressing on her bladder and bowels will make her need very rapidly, and she probably doesn't get a chance to ask out in time. Grit your teeth and try not to scold her....put her straight onto the nearest puppy pad you have near her, and say do poopoos, say nothing about the "accident" and let her go back to her bed then. If she carries on doing it, just try to think of what she is producing for you, and say nothing. She will be fine once she has her puppies weaned, if not after the birth, and there being less pressure....though you might like to try carrying her out yourself every hour and say your usual, like do peepees, do poopoos, and give her a chance to empty herself without having to get caught out. She won't be trying to be bad...she is just upset and full of puppies. Let me know how you get on and how her whelping goes;) I hope all goes really well for you. This will be my first breeding, and I am crossing my fingers, though I think Tammy is pregnant;) I might end up posting on this topic for myself yet, hee hee - you can give me some advice then, eh:) - you could keep her on a lino/tiled floor for a week or so if nothing else works....better than having it on carpets, etc...but spend loads of time with her if she is in the kitchen for example....I'm sure you will be loving her anyway, good luck;) :animal-pa Debra x x x x |

:idontknow sorry can't help that much regarding your baby but I did notice Phoebe change attitude then I remember that she was getting close to her six month then she got spay (before she got her heat) anyway maybe do a search on the breeder section, in the internet or a book hope you find your answer:goodluck: |

and Ps...people here DO have strong feelings about hitting dogs. Maybe you should think of why you can't control your temper and take it out on your yorkie - sorry - but your comments really got me. |

[QUOTE=HighlandYorkies;1027720]I've been attacked on this site about pet breeding without showing myself, (no shows within 100-150 miles from me) so it's annoying when you only want an answer to something to have everyone jumping down your throat, no matter how well intended they might think they are. MY lord...Its never ok to even tap your babies. That is a negative reinforcement, and will make your dog cower down when he/she needs to potty. And will make them to more submissive peeing. POSITIVE reinforcement goes along way!!! There are lots of threads here to help you with that! Many ideas, many threads on this discussion. ANd if your dog is preggars, a tap an hurt her and the babies. These are 5 pound dogs. :( As for the initial question, well....she should not have mentioned that she "taps" her dog when it pottys in the house or whatever. To many of the people here, it does get our blood boiling. And she should have just asked the question itself. |
Everyone is entitle to their own opinion and thoughts...afterall this is a public forum...but must we stoop to that low of a level and attach each other on what one thinks or feel... tsk tsk...i guess this is part of being human.. |

My Bitsy is currently pregnant and refuses to use the pee pad to pee. I even put one where she was peeing on the floor (she's in an xpen).... nope... just finds part of the floor and pees on that!!! She poops on the pee pad though  . Anyway, wishing you all the best with your pregnant female. :) |
not trying to prolong the painful but.... Now that things have calmed down some: Please don't think that what you say falls on deaf ears. However, there is a right and wrong way to get your points across. It's one thing to be suggestive in a tactful/helpful way (which some of you were) and it's another to be rude (which a few of you were and are now on my ignore feature - which is a lovely feature btw ;) ). I think everyone knows that this is a public forum and that there is going to be all KINDS of different viewpoints. With everyone on the site being so passionate about yorkies, it's easy to see how some of you can have strong feelings about certain topics. It's hard for some of you to not be judgemental I suppose, but I would hope that everyone can work together rather than against each other for the sake of the yorkies. Oh and thanks again to everyone who pm'd with support. You all made me feel a lot better! :) I def do not pretend to be a perfect trainer as I am still new at this whole thing. I def take every suggestion in to consideration and DO appreciate all the help you guys provide. As for my pregnant girl.... she is still pooping on the carpet. I really don't want to limit her access to the house. I want her to be with me and the family as much as possible. I guess we're just going to keep a watchful eye on her and just be patient. Her stools have softened up quite a bit, so the clean up is messier, but I can definitely deal with it. She is still very good about peeing on her pads. OH and she is farting a LOT. SOOO STINKY!!! heh :) |

Good think for that ignore button.;) |

ok but this doesn't answer my question about the FARTING! JUST JOKING. :D :animal36 |

Someone made what I said look as though I tap/slap my dogs - I'd just like to say I DO NOT EVER TAP MY DOGS IN ANY WAY AT ALL - they get a "tut tut TUT" and much more often a "GOOD GIRL/BOY !" :) Just thought I'd clear that up. How some threads go astray, lol ! On pregnant dogs : Feel sorry for my poor hubby who went to his bed after night-shift the night before last, to find that Pregnant Tammy had peed all over his pillow - she must have been desperate, now being huge at day 35. Poor wee doggie ! I didn't say a thing to her, just rushed her outside - it's just the pressure of those puppies ! And as for Burping, well she burps a lot but only one Fart to my knowledge ! .....AND IT WAS STINKY ! :animal-pa Debra x x x x:D |
