I am so new can anyone please tell me why a yorkie would be described as having a pointy nose and looking like fox. she is AKC I have not seen her yet. Please do not come down hard on me I am just being cautious before making any decisions. I was talking to the man selling her and he described as this. 14 months old 6 1/2 lbs. $700 Blue and Gold. any thoughts? He will email pics tomorrow. Thanks in advance.;)

my Tootie has a pointy nose... have no idea why but when he is wet he is too funny looking... he is CKC, I think, but that never mattered to me anyhow.. he is beautiful!

I have a girl from my litter that I kept that reminds me of a fox. She doesn't have a long nor thick nose. It's actually short. I don't have a profile, but here's the best pic I could find off hand.

Here is one of my studs Freddy ..he has what you would call a fox nose...;)

I would consider my Roxie to have a foxy look about her.

Susan, I think your puppy pic is a good example of a foxy face..the muzzle can be short or longer, but the face is very pointed..Tootie is not a fox face to me...he is has a more squared, terrier muzzle...all are cute and different.

Pat, do you think sometimes it could be not that the the nose is necessarily narrower, but that the hair breaks off or doesn't grow very long there. I have one girl who looks very foxy to me and her nose looks pointed, but when I compare to the others who don't look this way - when they are wet i.e. the hair is slicked down their noses appear about the same.

I think the foxy look is very pretty if this man is correct on her features I think she will be beautiful.I have a 5yr old girl that has that fox look everyone wants me to call her foxy but she is my sweet sarah. and to anyone who know how do you choose or know which ones will look fox like at a young age because I want another that look just like she does???4lbs tiny frame black/gold and just amazing.

My Abbie has what I see as a 'fox' face. Is it that they have a slight overbite, maybe?

Gotcha Pat, Her Daddy's is the same way. In their case, they're narrow, not long, and like you said, pointy. It's been hard for me to put my finger on it except to say that she reminds me of a fox. Here's a picture of her in the throws of barking at me that shows her nose in a slightly different angle.

I almost reposted after the other post about the muzzle hair.. the muzzle can look very sharp when the hair is short or sparse...and an overbite can certainly make the upper jaw very foxy...

Jack is a rescue, and I'm not sure of his pedigree. But I did a poll one time asking YTers what they thought, and 80 out of 80 said he looked 100 percent Yorkie. And he definitely has a pointy, foxy nose. I've wondered if he might have some silky in him, because I believe they have pointier noises.

But you can't say he isn't cute.

Jack is adorable . I love looking pictures of him .

First thing I see when I look at Jack is a great ear set! I don't really see Foxy in the pic. The distance from the outside corner of one eye to the outside corner of the other eye should equal the distance between the outside corner of the eye to the edge of the nose. Jack's face has that balance where I think of foxy as having a longer distance from the outside corner of the eye to the nose. A bit of a longer, narrower muzzle. Anyway Jack's a real cutie!

Jack definitely looks like 100% yorkie, I know what you mean by the silky nose. I think it's more of an extended nose and square among other features. of the silky. A much different look than your cutie.

Thanks eneryone all your babies are so adorable. This was very insightful for me hearing your feedback. I got the pics today and she is beautiful. Is that reasonable $700 . He says she is 6 1/2 lbs due for her shots in May.:animal-pa

Jack is 100% Yorkie. As they become older, they features thin out and almost look like a puppy again, but with silver hair. If you want, I could send you a photo of Sophie (AKC Purebred from show lineage) when she was in her prime, and at 13. What I want to know if how did you teach them to twirl?

My boys say Uma is foxy, all right! I couldn't believe that little sweetheart could look like a sheepdog, so I had to google that cartoon. Is this the one you're talking about? It came up under "Sam the Sheepdog and Ralph the wolf". LOL. Poor Uma!

You're lil Freedy is beautiful. Just lacking in facial furnishings, which always softens the face.
