Mary,
Cricket is doing remarkably well, she's such a little trooper. Connor didn't do the humpabumpa, Tif swears the girl was gay! Roxie may be pregnant, she's gained 3 oz. and is protective of the food bowl. Remi is more beautiful everyday, I swear she's going to have a coat to die for! How are you and yours? :D :D

Start with the female and make sure she is show quality. A good breeder behind you is of utmost importance. The road ahead holds dissapointments, setbacks, and pitfalls. Be ready and be strong.

Thank you! I am really interested in learning about this process and I appreciate you guys trying to answer my questions.

What type of bloodline or pedigree should I look for? Just champions in the line?

Tami,

All are well here, Tahlulah is still a pistol...she and Rainey will have their next outing in Wichita Falls, a major in bitches.

The 3 puppies are all well, full of the dickens.....I want my kitchen back.

My advice would be to go to shows, look at magazines, websites, etc. Study the breed standard and decide what type of Yorkie you would like to breed. Find a breeder who has your interpretation of the breed standard and talk to them about your goals and dreams. Study the different lines represented by the top breeders in this country, develop an eye and choose carefully. Your future kennel depends on your foundation bitch and stud.

You wouldn't part with Talulah, you need a good fight occasionally! They do keep our lives from being boring don't they?

If someone is going to show they definitely have to be determined, unfortnately there are those that try to destroy each other out there. I think it is mostly jealousy that rears its ugly head.

Not that easy, I have a hard enought time keeping her here.....everytime I turn around she makes a comment that maybe Rainey should come home.....My standard answer is not until she's Championed.

Well I am not wanting to make a career out of it and I honestly don't know enough about any of this to breed. I actually thought if your pup was AKC and you bred to an AKC that was all you needed to do. So obviously I am not breeder material. ;)

You may not be breeder material yet but you could be. After a few years of study you could do something to improve and contribute to the breed. Too many people are just throwing dogs together and adding to the problem of over population. If you're going to do something, strive to do it with excellence!

Thank you so much! :D I am glad I asked the questions because other wise I would have just thought that AKC to AKC was ok. At least now I know I have alot of research to do before I decide to breed. :aimeeyork

Make a career out of it...HA...careers usually result in money enough to live off of, right?;)
I'm sure you are not the only one who has every thought that, nor will you be the last.:) I know a guy who just doesn't understand why I won't breed my Bassett to his...they both have papers, afterall.:rolleyes:
Seriously, do you know how many people don't even bother to ask questions first? You are on the right track by asking and studying up first and are in a great place to ask for help and be given pointers and shown in the right direction. Do you know of any breeders in the area that would be willing to work with you?
