Yes, stud dogs mark their territory.

Just because a dog is nuetered does not mean their instincts are removed, they will still hump.

If you want to do this breeding thing, I would suggest that you find a female with a good pedigree. AKC/purebred doesn't tell you a whole lot about it's background.

Yes you are right. That is why I am asking you guys. I seriously thought if it was AKC registered that was good enough. I didn't know I needed to know bloodlines.

How do you go about finding out such information if someone doesn't know this?

So how many of you think a female is better for breeding than having a "stud" LOL that sounds funny

I wouldnt buy from a breeder that doesnt know the bloodlines. My two Are pets and still the breeder bragged about their bloodlines

Oh and also what i meant above was once a male is bred, does the humping and marking get worse?

My stud dogs don't hump, unless of course they are being bred. The marking well, it's something that comes with the territory.

By the way, don't buy from any breeder, unless they can recite their dogs pedigree backwards and forwards....tell you about every dog in that pedigree, health, quirks, etc.

As a breeder, it is better to have more females and start with a female.

If you seriously are looking into a responsible breeding program you should fiind a show breeder who has been successful at showing and breeding for some years and seek advice, I don't think most of the yorkie people here are showing, looks like pet for the most part pet breeders and I don't think a pet breeder would be an appropriate mentor for a newbie.
Prehaps you could PM some of the show breeders. Some will turn a deaf ear to a newbie but many are willing to help when they see a serious person who is wanting to learn.

I'm a show breeder that breeds for myself for that next champion to add to my breeding program. However, as I can't show or keep them all, those that I can't are adopted out to preapproved homes on a spay/nueter contract.

I'll do everything else to help you to this thing correctly. Believe me you haven't an easy road to follow....

Yes you are answering my questions and I totally appreciate it. I am trying to figure out what the best thing is for me. If I do choose to start breeding of course I want a good start. I do not want to do what was done to me (as I was/am still very ignorant about what to look for).

I figure if I am spending so much money on a puppy then I need to look at all the options out there before hand so I know what I can expect later IF I decide to breed.

This Time & Pastoral. I've been showing about 3 1/2 years. Finished 4Champions before going near a whelping box. Mardelin is my kennel name. And now handling for my breeder/mentor.

Forgot to answer one of your questions I'm in the Dallas - Fort Worth area

You have some wonderful, reputable breeders down Houston way. I'm not going to kid you. What you are wanting to do is not an easy thing. But, if you want it bad enough and do it the right way, doors will open for you.
