| weird.. I've only seen that happen if the male hasn't hit puberty yet or if he's been fixed. Have you tried physically putting him behind the female that is in heat so that he can *sniff her? I have the opposite problem right now, my 2 boys are "hormonal" and keep trying to get up on our Mini Schnauzer (she's fixed and about 7x their size) and the funny thing is they don't know what to do and even look at us like 'I don't know why I'm doing this but I can't stop!' hehe

| YT Addict | I'm going to give him a little more time i think. I had a girl on here wanting to buy him, but have't heard from her this weekend, i think i'll wait on selling him. I've only had him three weeks, so maybe its the enviroment. He has to get adjusted and all. |

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | I've HEARD that if you baby a male too much, they won't turn out to be a breeder. I've had breeders and also my vet tell me this. We were worried that Chester wouldn't perform because I had babied him all of his life. But, he proved all of us wrong. Now, a friend's mom just bought a 2 yr old male yorkie and she babies him to the point that if anyone comes around her, he tries to bite them. My guess is he considers the lady his mate. |

| If you have only had him 3 week , maybe he need time to adjust to his surroundings. They say it's better to take the female to the male at breeding time. I'd just give him some time or try a different female. |

| As I recall you got him from a bad situation...kept on wire in a pen..hurt his feet. He was not proven when you got him and if he came from a breeder there is a reason they did not use him...he may never have shown any interest and that happens. Three weeks is not long enough to establish trust, new home etc....it could take a year for him to come around or he may never breed...I feel badly for this little guy...please tell me you will find him a good pet home if you sell him...he can not go back to a wire pen situation,,, |

| YT Addict | Oh yes indeed i will find him an excellent home, if i sell him. I have a lady in this forum that is interested and not to breed. He is a darling. Yesterday i found a large lump on the side of his wewe and a small one on the other side. I took him to the vet when i bought him and there was nothing showing. My husband pressed on the lumps a little and they would dissapear. I believe they might be hernias. I do hope that that is all it is, they can be removed, but i won't breed him. I'm taking my little Gidget tomorrow to get her spayed, so i'm taking him with me to find out exactly what it is. People should be really careful who they buy from, but i'm really glad i got him out of that situation. He is a mommies baby if i ever saw one. I have 4 more besides him. I wish he could go to someone with no other babies, but the girl that wants him has a little girl yorkie i think. She really does seem to be a caring person. I just want this little boy to have a happy ending.I don't want him to have to stay in a crate all the time. I am a stay at home granny and i take my doggies out to play quiet often throughout the day. He stays in his crate at night. I haven't tried housbreaking him yet. Three of my yorkies are house broken, but him and the little girl i bought with him are not. It takes a lot of time and patience. The little girl i bought with him seems to be just fine. I payed $500 for both of them, so i'm not complaining about the price , except the fact they were abused obviously. The man had the two dogs out of his kennel in the back of a truck when we went to pick them up. I didn't actually get to see the conditions they were really in. He did tell me they were on wire cages and i saw the building they were in and it was all closed up. You wouldn't even know dogs were in there. Poor things. Should be against the law. I'm getting attached but i really think he would be better off with someone that wants a loving companion. He won't get an inch away from me outside and looks up at me with adoration. very fond of women and barks at my husband. Just begs me to pick him up. Don't you worry, he won't be mistreated anymore. I love animals and can't stand people that abuse them. Sorry i got carried away and wrote so much. Thanks for your concern |

| Those lumps that appear from time to time on a male are perfectly normal. It is the bulbus glands that swell during the breeding process...at least we know he has hormones..lol I am happy to hear he is so happy now. |

| We went on a trip in feb this year our female was coming into heat and our male did not touch her on our trip wouldnt even take a sniff, we came home and took him 2 days before he was hot on the trail, he would not of been like that had we been home, usually as soon as they are coming in he knows follows them everywhere nose right to the rear. Maybe your guy needs time to adjust or maybe just wont be a breeder ya never can tell sometimes, can depend on his surroundings and how he was treated too. |
