Yorkie Pricing??? Hi, I was just curious what a fair price for a yorkie pet is?? I know that they are usually priced on size and quality, but I am looking for a pet, and not to show, and i have seen soo many different price ranges for a yorkie that is meant to be a pet. average size... pet quality, not show quality... what do you think is the average price of a yorkie with those qualities would be??? I just dont want to be taken advantage of. Thanks :rollingey |
pricing?? Its very hard to say.......I've seen so many responses. I don't know where you are, but I am in Texas, and I personally paid $550 for a female and $500 for a very small male yorkie (brother and sister) and they were both CKC registered, not AKC. To me they are pet quality yorkies. I think I got a pretty good deal, however, I've seen on here where some people paid less than that for AKC with full breeding rights in other areas of the country, so I guess it depends on where you live too. I guess that probably didn't help any. Sorry. :p |
I paid $500 for charlie, and that's about as low as they go in my part of the country. He's not akc, i haven't had any problems either. I guess in that price range would be ok. |
prices I think it depends on the area you live for the most part. Vet fees play a huge role IMO...in teh midwest breeders can pay as little as $100 for a c-section..east/west coast breeders may pay as much as $1800. Now that Yorkies are so popular in AKC ranking, the prices have gone insane. I remember the first time I asked $500 for a champion-sired female...then $1000, $2000, that seemed unbelievable. Now $1500 is a very fair price for a pet in my area..infact $2000 in the newspaper is common...go to Teacups in Ft Lauderdale and you pay $3000 to $5000. I have friends in Ky who feel $600/$800 is top dollar....NY/Ca. are extremely high. |
I paid $800 for mine in Missouri for just a pet. That is about as good as I could do without having one shipped and that would have brought the price right back up to the $800 range. |
I paid $400.00 for Fred. He's a pet quality Yorkie and is the most priceless lil' guy EVER! I think it all boils down to how much you're willing to pay. I think if you have a price range, you could easily find one for that much. You just have to be patient and wait for the best deal. I searched for months through papers and online ads waiting for the perfect breeder and doggy to pop up! After 3-4 months, I found Fred through a breeder in Texas that was in the Dallas morning paper! I've seen them range anywhere from $400.00 to $1,500.. sometimes an occassional $2,000 - $3,000 |
i paid 150 for one that we found out was from a puppy mill but we have seen some healthy ones $500- 1600about hope it helps |
i ment 1500 sorry |
In Canada , it depends on the lineage of the sire and dam . The price can go from $500.00 to $2,000.00 for pet quality . |
toby is pet quality, no papers at all, and he was $500...... that is pretty much the CHEAPEST OF THE CHEAP in california........ i have seen people pay $400 for a papered dog though........ everyone else is totally riight, it depends on where you live. |
I got Cosmo for $250 but he is not registered. |
In my area, South Texas, females go for $1000 and males $800. This is for pet quality. |
Prices Around here in Michigan they can range from about 900-1200 for pets and IF you can find someone that has quality puppies and IF you can get them to give you breeding rights it goes WAY up. We will end paying $1600 for our newest female! She has Champion lines and AKC full breeding rights. Our biggest problem was finding a puppy that had any Champs and if so if the breeder would even THINK about giving breeding rights. No one around here wanted to give full registration at all. We could only do so after we provided the AKC pedigree of our male to show that he quality enough to breed to their puppies! |
I think about 800-1000 is is about as much as I would pay for a Yorkie (Biewer is another story) female who has faults. My AKC male was 475 in Chicago, but that is dirt DIRT cheap. |
Thanks for all your input. Im in arizona, and have seen a huge range... I didn't realize how expensive they can be  I'm looking for a yorkie around 700... i feel like there is hope! |
