doctor had done an x-ray..lol told me there were no pups...hahah in my heart i knew she was pregnant....and look...he doesnt wanna nurse but crys every once in a while.. |
Try your saliva. My single pup didn't latch on for 1 hour. She was fine. |
What's mom doing? Is she cleaning him or just resting? He just needs a little help figuring out how to get started nursing. He'll be okay without milk for a short time. Remember just a while ago the placenta was feeding him. How much does he weigh? It's importatn to keep track of his weight. |
LOL. . i dont know how to work the scale i got..it said 187 grams..??? also she is cleaning him non-stop...and keeping him warm....still not drinking.... |
Record his weight in grams than, that's fine you can convert it later. Sounds like she's being a good mom and isn't in any distress. Just keep trying to get him to nurse. You can gently push with your thumb and forefinger on the area where his jaw is hinged, opening his little mouth a bit. Put a little spit on the tit, hold pups mouth with one hand the tit with the other and gently bring the two together. Make sure his tongue is under the nipple. You can also put some formula on the tit if you want to try that. |
yay!!! he found a nipple..i dont know if there is anything coming out though...its a start! :) :D :p  :) |
everyone has been so helpful...thank you so much i dont know what to say...YORKIETALK ROCKS! :p :D |

I couldn't help but to notice your tools (scissors, floss, etc..) on the floor. Always make sure your tools are sterile and clean. I alwasys boil my sciccors and forceps before using and have them in sterile towel and wrap up in plastic just before whelping. I am sure you have just finished with those and don't need to use them now - reason for on the floor. Sometimes x-rays can be wrong - it is so hard when mom only has one pup - and could be hiding and not show up in the image. Sometimes it takes mom a little to get the milk flowing and the clor. going, but the sucking with help it come through. Also the sucking with her the pup if any fluid is still in the throat. So very good! Good luck and congratualtions on your new baby boy! T. |

I thought so, but had to make sure since this is an open forum and so many people look. I didn't want to say anything either, but was afraid someone would see and think it is okay to have on the floor, since the floor is clean. I guess that is why on the McDonald cups (for coffee) it says hot now. LOL Well, congratulations! How does it feel to be a grandma? heheheheh! You will want to sleep so good tonight, but I am sure you will hate not to watch him. Hummmmm - names? New Year baby huhhhhhhh? I bet we can come up with some really cute names for him! :D T. |
Rolex? Tryin' to think of a time reference... CONGRATULATIONS!!! |
Well she sure made that look easy. I have a question for yhou. You said the Vet didn't think she was pregnant. What signs did you see to make you think she was? I suspected that Ollie was but she doesn't show any signs now and if she is she will be due on the 4th. Just wondering if it's possible for them to be pregnant and one not know it. Well evidently it is if the vet didn't know. But what other signs should I be looking for? I want to be prepared if she is. |
