good luck to you! I went on your website and mommy and daddy are a gorgeous combination. I'll check back tomorrow for any updates:aimeeyork |
She actually just got in her whelping box right now. Yeah, something is deffinatly up. She's acting way different and is sitting and staring. I'm going to stay up as long as I can and then move her to her kennel. I plan to sleep on the couch with the TV on for light and put her kennel right under my head. The others keep smelling her and are approaching her differently, almost as if they know something is up.... |

Thank you :) |
How exciting!!! Good luck to you and little Mommy:Love: |
How exciting, sounds like you will have a puppy soon!! Wishing you the best of luck and that mom has a smooth and trouble-free whelp!! |
Can you feel any contractions? I am up tonight on puppy watch too , we are on day 63. But no contractions at our house so we are going to bed for the night. Desi will sleep right next to my body so I will feel her contraction if they start. I am a very light sleeper. Good luck to you and your girl. |

So I don't know??? Maybe tonight / maybe not ??? Shes very starey eyed and just sits and stares.... |
Sometimes the girls that are not as well trained as Desi , I put in a crate on top of a small table next to the bed so it is right near my face so I can look in if I need to and then I still get to sleep in my bed. I have a table lamp in case I need it. I can hear their breathing change with every contraction so I can keep track of how they are doing and they can see me so they feel good too. |
That is what a contraction feels like the tummy area gets very hard and if you keep your hand there is will go away in about a minute or so. But these contractions can come several days early off and on. When labor begins you will know as the contractions will be more regular. At 99. I do not think your puppies are coming tonight, but that is the funny thing about breeding dogs you just never know..... |
Hi Breny, how's she doing today? Wishing you a very uneventful delivery. |
no advice just the best wishes coming to you and mom! |
good luck!!! hope to see puppy pics today!!!! |
breny, Do you have a baby yet? I kept meaning to tell you last night but never got around to it. You were saying the others kept sniffing and etc. She should not even be in the room with the others while she whelps. it will upsett her. i move mine a few nights before the whelp to a private area with me. |
No puppy last night.....This morning I gave her a bath and then checked her temp and its 97.5 this morning. |

Put her in a quiet place where she's not disturbed by any distractions. Just you and her. |
She ate this morning and is sleeping now. This is my vet's late day and they are open from 4pm to 8pm. What's the lower temp mean??? (being below 98) What should I watch for??? |
My girls temp is at 98 this morning too, she only played in her food a bit. I am taking her to work with me and will be watching for signs of labor. Panting , digging , going potty a lot to empty out her system. Then you will be able to see the contractions more often until she gets into real labor. The contractions will get stronger till she is pushing like she needs to go poop. When she gets into hard labor and is really trying to push the puppy out look at the time this should last no more than a hour for you as you probably have a big kid in there. I hope she has hers before your vet closes tonight. Do you have a place set up for her in case she needs help after hours? Best of luck to you. Will check back when I get home. |

Hi! Why do you think her temp is below 98???? Should I be concered??? |
Sorry I forgot to answer your question the lower temp , if it stays down means that you are going to have puppies soon, before tomorrow morning. |

Good luck with your girl today !!! Yes, my vet has a 24 hour pager. So I can page him after hours. Once they open today I'll call and give them the heads up that her temp has dropped. Ok - so 1 hour of hard pushing and then I call the vet....got it. |

I am sure your vet is the one to ask about the 97.5 but I am sure she is okay. I have seen them that low before and it could just be the thermometer. Try to relax for now, you have a long day and night a head of you. |

Thanks BUT I'm a wreck !!!! |
1 Attachment(s) I know a few have told me to seperate her from the others but right now I'm going to leave her how she is. I have Brodies fleece shirt on her, she's covered in blankets, and Tia is laying on her. She's very content and I'd rather leave her for now. She seem confortable and relaxed. If she gets restless or anything I'll move her. Of course once labor starts, we'll be together alone. |
I know how you feel and it does not change much with more litters , I still worry a bit every time. But the one puppy always worries me. I was lucky with Desi she was able to have hers both times she had one puppy only and they came out at 6 oz each. But I had to help pull them out for her. I think you said your puppy looked like it was coming head first, and that is very good . |
Good Luck Breny I hope everything goes well I will keep checking and praying for both of you! |
Where is the best place to grab the pup to help? If head first try to get to the shoulders? If butt first...where? And only pull with each of her pushes, I know. Yes, the head was right down...but I know they can move... |

The others are right she should be alone soon, as sometimes it can postpone the girls into going into labor if they feel threatened. I have heard many many horror stories about the other dogs coming in and killing the puppies, or even the mother eating them if they are not comfortable. You know your dogs better than anyone else. She will probably not let them around when she is getting ready to have her baby. We have to remember we are dealing with dogs here, they don't always do as we think they will. |
Butt first is a problem as you can rip the sack, but head first is much better you can grab the head in a wash cloth and pull with the contractions , only if needed..... If needed pull the head towards the tummy, not straight out. |
