| Mister Dexter | 12-13-2006 04:24 AM | Blue -vs- Chocolate Let me explain something...When I hear the word blue, in regard to a dog (not blue and gold, but blue puppy), I think of oxygen deficiency...or deficiency in some other organ in the body in relation to circulation...Not trying to be technical. When I hear chocolate or see chocolate...more research needs to be done in relation to this color. As the article stated, chocolate is just a combination of recessive genes/chromosomes...what have you. It has been proven that blue yorkies have issues...likewise, it has not been proven that chocolate yorkies have the same problems. When I think of my chocolate yorkie..I think of two light people having a dark baby because as I stated...both parents are blue and gold. People always look differently at something that is different. I'm not trying to promote or indoctrinate a new color under that acceptance of yorkie standards, but I am trying to open minds. Nor am I being defensive or offended. I'm not afraid of entering new boundaries or challenging who made the standard in the first place. New breeds are being accepted everyday...in people and in dogs. I'm not talking, for clarification, about all this mixing that folks are doing when breeding their dogs...I'm talking about ideals and good things and good creations that have been kept enslaved because of the ignorance, narrow mindedness, and the not willing to step outside of your comfort zone syndrome. What am I saying in all of this...I've appreciated all of the good advice from the elders of this website or the seasoned ones. I don't always reply, but I'm constantly looking and viewing information to add to my own memory banks. There's been wonderful stuff written. Likewise, I don't conform to everything a person says...I have my own DNA... I think in the near future, the chocolate yorkie will be well recognized!!! |
