We just had another one. Thank God my hubby hadn't left yet for his dental appt. it was backwards. he had to get it out. We thought it was dead. I grabbed it and rubbed it with a towel then did a few breaths on it. It is doing great now. No placenta tho. iam waiting until the next contraction to see and if it doesn't come out, off to the vet we will go if I can't get it.

We have two girls and one boy. They are all good size. I weighed them but got excited and forgot to color code them so I have to do that again. The smallest was 3.4 kandy is resting. She is still huge tho. Every time I dry them off, she slurps them and they are all wet again. I have the heating pad under the box but she keeps moving them so we also haave a heat lamp on the box. i didn't see the last placenta come out but I am taking her to the vet late today anyway for him to check her and give her oxytocin to clean her out. WHEWWWWWWWW what a wet mess. poor little kandy looks just pitiful but content. I am waiting a little while to put dry pads in her bed just in case.

I am on my own now but I am calm and was standing over him giving him instructions (he thought that was funny since he is supposed to be the pro) He had already given up on the little backwards one and just put her aside. i was yelling breath for her, breath and finally I took over. he isn't used to sitting with his beagles when they whelp and kept telling me to leave kandy alone and let her do it. i think he has more admiration for me now LOL. I think we are donee.

Congrats on your new litter.These little ones do not deliver as easy as the bigger dogs that is for sure.Our Malamutes would just pop them right out.
Glad your hubby was there to help you.

We just had another one. That makes four and Three of them are girls. I have a hell of a headache. When this is over, I am going for a beer. And i don't even drink!!!!!!!

How exciting!!! It seems like we've all been waiting for days and days for your babies to come! I hope they are all roly poly healthy buggers.... please post pics as soon as you are able!

Oh my goodness, the pup was lucky to have you there to help. How did you breathe for the puppy? How does that work in case I run into that problem where a pup is not breathing?

I can finally stop checking your thread 4 times a day now. I am so happy all seems to be going well. Three girls that is great - there is definitely a higher demand for girls. Don't really know why because my little boy is much sweeter than my two girls. I would take her in for an oxytocin shot, if all placentas are not accounted for. You don't have to rush her in though give her time to relax and take her in later this afternoon before closing and hopefully she will pass all the placentas on her own by then without the injection.

Just curious, was this your first litter of yorkies?? I know your husband breeds beagles and has done that before, I just didn't know about the yorkies.

There is a CPR thread at the top of the Emergency Forum. Usually just sucking out the nasal and oral cavity with a bulb syringe (baby nose aspirator) and rubbing briskly with a towel will get one started breathing. I have never had to give CPR, but have had to "shake them down" (holding upside down with neck and head supported to remove fluids from the lungs). Always keep their head lower than their lungs until they are breathing well.
