| Can you stud out your male too many times? Can a male be studded out too many times per year according to the AKC? |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | With AKC, you can stud your male out 3 times per year and 7 times per lifetime. After one or the other are met, AKC will require you to do a DNA testing. They send you a kit and then you send it back with $35 to have your stud DNA registered.

| Just want to make sure I understand. After the DNA testing is done, there are no restrictions to how many times per year? |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | That is correct. I know of a breeder in town that studs out and he probably is the father to at least 12 litters a year.

| Do you think it is strange for a littler of puppies to be champion sired, but can't be registered because sire has been studded out too many times? Why wouldn't the owner just have him DNA tested? Sounds wierd doesn't it? They are gorgeous, small, baby faced. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | That does sound very strange. There are many champion studs out there and those pups are AKC registered. Why not this litter? Something doesn't sound right here. Have you been looking through a website? What is the website?

| Actually, the breeder of my little Tinkerbell, purchased these two beautiful pups to breed. She was absolutely thrilled with their pedigrees and qualities. She took them home for a couple of weeks and had to bring them back to the breeder because they were not registerable. Very disappointing. And it doesn't make sense why he is not dna certified??? It is not expensive. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | hhhmmm, don't know what to tell you on that one. Is it possible that the breeder just never got around to registering the litter???

| Dna BUT the breeder can NOW do the DNA and the litter will be accepted by AKC. What they do is put a hold on any papers until the breeder follows through..then any pups past or present can be registered. The breeders excuse is fishy. This problem is too easily corrected, there is more then you are being told..best wishes |

| Ah, that's why I love this site. We learn so much. I never knew that about the studs, now I agree, this reason shouldn't stop the original stud owner from having him DNA'd? Sounds not right...

| Yes, I agree. Sounds too easy to fix. Didn't sound right to me either. Thanks for your replies. |
