Please Let Me Know If She Is Always Gonna Be Ugly 1 Attachment(s) I got a little(3.5lbs) girl last night and she is different looking from the rest of my crew she is 5mths old and is in my opinion just ugly. she has sparse hair some long some short some of her hair looks kinda coarse but it feels silky it looks like she has wore off her hair from her back of her neck to her belly button then from there on it is kinda long in thin places but her hair(that is shorter is really thick,I am hoping i've read all the books right and have purchased the type that is sleek(suggested) instead of wirey, which she doesn't feel wirey at all. please tell me i did'nt spend all that money on a girl that will never grow out in a nice coat.Attachment 74138 she is in the back on the left |
What kind of dog is she??? |
ah i think she's adorable. love her for what she is, she'll probably grow a beautiful coat soon enough anyway. |

She may always have short hair but you won't know until she is older. I think she is ;) cute... |
Is she a yorkie? You just gotta love her, even if she's a ugly duckling now, you never know, she might grow up to be your beautiful little swan! She may just need some time to mature more and give that hair a chance to grow out some. Just give her some of those special "momma" kisses and love her for what she is, a special little girl. |
she is not ugly at all. she is very cute. |

I was looking at the chihuahua, They are both cute..and yes she will change in looks. It can take up to 2 years for them to get a full coat..etc. She may grow up to be a real beauty...;) |
i think shes cute all my yorkies look different but i love them all i cannot see whats wrong with her she looks like a sweet soul to me |
I think she is adorable and just looks like a typical Yorkie puppy to me! They are all different, as a rule, and their beauty on the inside is much more important .... IMO. ;) |
I think she is soo adorable and just looks like a Yorkie puppy to me! |
2 Attachment(s) thanks to all, i don't want anyone to think i think she is ugly, for the yorkie i wanted she is ,but as a dog she is adorable. I am interested in showing/breeding and i was reading up and all the books say to avoid the fluffy puppy and go for the sleeker ones this in my opinion is as sleek as it gets!!!!! i have 3 others and i was kinda thinkin dallas my oldest(9) was like this but it's been sooooo long i don't remember and he has a stunning to the floor silk coat. but i compared her to pics i have of my other little girl and it's way off!!! here are the 2 pics to compare at the same age, i will take a better pic of pixie ( bad hair day girl) today and post it so you get a better idea. the one in the middle of the other yorkie brothers is Tootsie at 5 mthsAttachment 74158 Attachment 74159 I was questioning if she was even pure bred she has a pom look to her. |
She's beautiful!! :D I definitely wouldn't say she's ugly, but then I wouldn't say any Yorkie was ugly...I just love the breed. And, besides, even if she were a bit on the unattractive side, it just goes back to the old saying, it's not what's on the outside that counts, it's what's on the inside, and that little girl looks like she's even more beautiful on the inside. I'd call her a blessing. :D   I would be proud to have her as a furbaby. ~Marly |
All your babies are beautiful!!! She is not ugly at all...she's just going through that puppy stage where they look different. |
I think she's very cute. I've seen yorkies that when they are puppies they are not the cutest and their hair looks thin, but only to have the most stunning coat when they grow up. Sometimes Yorkies that are super cute and fluffy when puppies then grow with a coat that does not meet the standards. |
Well she is a cutie pie. My molly has fine hair too. I seems like they look about the same. We call Molly a hamster and a fruit bat. Molly doesn't look like most yorkies I see (fluffy). However she is a silky coat. I have a friend who has a wavy coat. Her dog is soooo cute but, they have had alot of problems with his coat. In fact they had to shave him down when he was 5 months old because his adult coat matted with his puppy hair. Don't worry about her coat right now. It will come in. I am still waiting on Molly. She is a total breeze to bath and dry though.:) |

She is NOT ugly but finding that 'show' dog is not easy & not cheap... I understand you wanting her to fill in a bit but all yorkies are cute in their own way. |
why would anyone buy a yorkie they thought was ugly???? have you asked the vet why her coat is broken/ missing? i'm sure it will grow in though |
Aww she is a cutie. I don't know what kind of coat she might have for sure. Right now she is looking like maybe she will have a wiry coat but I understand that as young puppies it is VERY hard to tell between the wiry and silk coated pups. I do not know what the age is that you are supposed to be able to tell for sure. Did you pay show dog price for her? If not I would not worry too much about it. She looks so sweet and I am sure she will be a lovely dog no matter what her coat is:) . |

If you're planning to show, then you should probably buy from a show breeder, so you know what you are getting. Most dogs ARE NOT show quality. |

1 Attachment(s) Titan's hair was like you discribed when whe first got him at 6 months. I trimmed off the ones that were longer to match the short ones. Now he's a year old and he looks better. Here is a picture of him |

i think she will turn out ok maybe she has allergies that cause the skin to break off it may be something simple though like a change in diet? |
I also posted in your other thread. I have a 5 month old little girl and he coat looks similar to your little girl's coat. I trimmed her down and her fur is coming in a lot more silky.I think she is just losing her puppy coat. I am not really worried about it 1) because I'm not showing her or breeding her and 2) I have her brother who is a year old and his coat did the same thing but now it is so soft and silky and shiny. I keep him in a puppy cut but if I wanted to grow his hair out long, I would have no problem doing it. Your little girl is not ugly. She is precious! Maybe she is just a late bloomer. Have you tried the Missing Link Supplement? I believe that is what made my Hobbs' hair so soft and silky. Look at this thread and see for yourself: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...t=Missing+Link |
I think she is adorable! Lots of puppies have fine and straggly hair - Jaxon did when we first got him. Using a good shampoo and conditioner really helps (LOVE Chris Christensen). I'm sure her hair will fill in just fine and she'll be even more adorable. |
