Breed again? I was wondering if a dog has a c-section if they could be bred again? Just curious. Thanks. |
Well, they could. Whether or not they should, however depends on the circumstances.:) |
Well, I guess my question should have been worded differently. Under what circumstances is it safe to breed a dog that has had a c-section? And should you breed a dog that has had a c-section again?:) |
I am not a breeder but, I wouldn't put the Mom through that again. MO |

I know how it feels to have a c-section. I have 4 skin kids and all of them were delivered by c-sections. :) |
you shouldn't breed a csection again most likely they will have to keep getting csections to give birth |
She said it is for the mother's savety , they are showdogs and very expensive. |

I know lots of people who breed their dogs again after a c-section. It depends on what the vet says. Is the mother in good health? I know with some breeds such as bulldogs they always have c-sections and are breed multiple times. HTH. |
This is my personal opinion and others will not agree, but if it was MY dog and she had to have a c-section to deliver, not only would I NOT breed her again, but I would have them spay her at the time of the c-section. That is just how I feel. I know if one of mine had to have a c-section, no matter the circumstances, I would never put them through that again. As I said, JMO.=) |
A c-section isn't all that bad. I have had 3 and it isn't that hard. It is probally easier and less stressfull than acual labor I know have had 2 and I had drugs to help me out. JMO. |

There are so many reason a dam may need a c-section. 1. over due and the pups to big to pass through the birth canal. 2. the dams pelvis area maybe to small. 3. labor to long. 4. bred to a male who produces larger pup...etc. Sometime you can breed after a c-section and have a normal delivery. If her pelvis area is wide enough and not the problem. I would try using a different male. If the dam has to be sectioned again... IMO ...I would have her fixed. |
