It is actually the WORST thing to do to spay them during a C-Section. Their hormones are all out of whack, and you get a HUGE increase in bleeding out due to the blood engorged uterus from pregnany. MUCH better if you are going to spay a girl after a C-Section to WAIT until she is mid heats, or you need to put her under for something else, like a dental (which most moms need after raising a litter..shew! lol) As far as natural birth after C-Section, I agree with most of what was posted, if it is a case where mommy is too small and shouldn't have been bred in the first place, or you are highly likely to have another C-Section due to bone structure, width of the pelvis, etc. then no, don't do it..mom is more important. Otherwise, I've known plenty of breeders who have had a bitch have a C-Section on their maiden birth, then go on to have perfecly normal vaginal births afterwards for their subsequent litters. As for the breeder who ONLY has C-Sections because her dogs are so valuable, wow...Umm I have some pretty expensive dogs too, and I wouldn't even attempt to breed them (or any other dog) unless I knew they COULD free whelp, un-necissary surgery is just somethng that doesn't make sense to me. You run the risk of losing your bitch with EVERY litter.. a C-Section to me just increases the chances of having problems, including a mommy not taking to her pups. Quote:
