youngest i cant let my munchkin go... hi all i was wondering when it would be oki to give one of the pups to its owner...the father of the puppies wants to take hers in a week or two...by then they will be 6 weeks they were born on august 18 early in the morning...do i let her take it or not?...shes very pushy with it...she cant wait to take her mom she is so in love with her...she came by yday nd the day b4 she hates being away from her but i think that may be tooooo young to seperate her from her brother and sister????? |
I would tell her no she can have the pup at twelve weeks and I wouldnt care how pushy she is |

Forgot to mention that it is illegal in your state to let the pup go under 8 weeks...............maybe you can use that to tell the new owner as well. Good luck! |
You could tell her it is important for the puppies socialization for it to stay with the littermates and mom untill 12 weeks |
Even though it is "her" pup, it is up to you to ensure its care as you have been since it was born. It should not go before 8 weeks regardless of any circumstances (she may have a right to it at that time). You sure as heck didn't have her take it once it was born because it was "her" pup. I do understand her eagerness though....they are irresistable! |

Not to be ugly, but if the bitch is YOUR dog, then YOU have complete control over when the pups leave. I wouldn't give a flying flip what this person wants or how pushy she is. As the breeder, it is your responsibility to see that the pups are healthy and well-adjusted. Do you have a contract? If so, is there a "delivery date" to hand over the pup to the new owner? Sorry if I came on strong. It is such a good thing that you are here and asking questions. That's how you learn. Keep up the good work! |
6 weeks is waaaaay too young! Plus, it's illegal!:mad: But I wouldn't see the harm in letting her visit the little one where you are....I know that there are times with a litter running around when someone to play with them while I could do a few things around the house was a GODSEND! But yes, way to young at 6 weeks. |
you need to tell her that you have a policy that they don't go until twelve weeks, ten at the very earliest if they are doing well. next litter you have, make this very clear in the beginning. |
6 weeks old is way much too young to let a puppy go to a new homes . When I have a potential new owner harrassing me to have a pup that I think he or she is too young , I simply give back the reservation money and tell the person to never come back for another puppy . Maybe it may seem rude but my puppy are extremely important for me and I will never put their lives in jeopardy . |
