Libby does NOT want Teddy around! Teddy came home today and Libby got real nervous and growled at him. She would not settle back down with her pups til I locked him in a bedroom upstairs. I guess I will have to send him back to my girlfriend's house for a few days. Will she be like this until the pups are gone? |
Why do you think she'll have them today if she is due the 21st? Is there a full moon or something I need to be aware of? LOL I have pups due on the 22nd, so if we're going to have them early, guess I better get prepared. :) Good luck with your litter. Quote:

Peccata It just depends on the dog, but there was a post recently about another female killing a litter so it's probably better if only the Mom has access to the pups for now. My male acts terrified of the puppies and won't go anywhere near them so I don't do anything special in my case. I also have a younger female that was very interested in the pups. When they were about 4 weeks old the Mom started to relax and let her kiss them. They are now almost 8 weeks and the younger female is the best babysitter ever, especially since Mom growls at them since she is trying to wean them and they are eating on their own. |

2 Attachment(s) Dazzlin, yes, she has done it in the past. Also, there is a small window there of how many days of gestation. Another window of when it actually "took". She's just soooo darned big that I assume it took the very first day. However, she ate all of her food right away and she usually backs down from it the day she is going to deliver. Peccata, my girl (and my Mom's 3) all turn into little Vipers and won't let ANY other dog near their puppies. Don't let any animals near so as not to stress out Libby. As mentioned, some animals (espeically raccoons) will kill their young to "protect" them from other animals harming them. I took another picture of Tiah today....she looks like "Look Mamma, I'm gonna have babies"....she is bigger than she looks in the photos. It is so hard to get good pictures of her....as soon as she sees the camera, she puts her ears down. I've even tried waiting it out....she's pretty stubborn. As soon as I take the camera away, she's back to her happy self. |
Bless her...she's gonna blow! I know that look very well.:( |
GOTCHA! Hey after I asked that question, I checked the phases of the moon, and we are actually going into a new moon, it will be full blown on the 22nd.. so if you believe in that "stuff"...we may be having puppy fest on here by the 23rd..LOL I had a girl go VERY early from a really bad thunder storm, the babies were about 4-5 days preemie, and had to be held on a nipple every 2 hours for the first 5 days, it was terrible, but thankfully they made it and are doing great. We're having storms again today, so hoping we don't have a repeat performance coming on. Julz - how big is your girl pre-pregnancy? And how much weight has she gained? My girl looks like her belly is about the same size, she was 5 lbs 3 ounces pre-preggo, and is now 6 lbs 8 ounces.. so thinking WOW bless her heart. I have to say I'm jealous of these dogs quick gestation, I am currently 84 days away from whelping my own little litter of one, and I wish it would hurry and be OVER!! LOL Quote:

Oh gosh, I don't want premies and I don't want overdues:D ! Tiah weighs a little over 7 pounds non-prego and weighs (YIKES!!!!) 11 pounds right now!!!! I JUST weighed her while typing this post!!! |

1 Attachment(s) OK, took this just now. You'll have to excuse the confused, scruffy look. She was half asleep...yes, in this position, and was not at all happy that I was bothering her to take this picture just now.:p |
