| feminvstr | 09-12-2006 07:30 AM | realizing its been three days since birth if she is running a temp over 102.5 get her to the vet...that is usually a precursor to an infection from a retained placenta. Since time has lapsed since birth oxy is not usually advised but some vets do it, an expereinced vet can massage the retained placenta down and it will come out...your bitch might need clavomox and a penicillian injection. If she does have a temp it will get higher before the antibotics take effect. You can use a frozen bag of pea's (placing it on her back or belly for comfort and cool down) every two or three hours until the temp lowers. Make sure you keep her hydrated use rebound or pedialyte if she wont drink freely use a syringe every hour a few cc's and nutra drops.
I hope this helps |
