So glad to hear everything is probably ok. Please post tomorrow and let us know how Amber and all the pups are doing. Remember that the pups don't produce body heat for the first 3 days. You have to keep them warm and out of drafts. Also, keep taking puppy counts....make sure no one is stuck under Amber or under a blanket. |
So sorry to hear that you made a mistake like that. You can't go back and undo it, but for any one else reading it with newborns, if mom needs to go to vet and the babies are still too young to regulate their temp, they may need a heating pad on low covered by towels or underneath their box. This may still be too much you have to test. If they spread apart in their box then it's too hot. This too for too long can be too extreme for them and thick blankets may be best for them. My girl was panting alot, I had tums on hand and I gave them to her and watched for symptoms but my girl was just hot! she has alot of hair (maltese) and I had the A/C higher than normal for the pups so we all suffered. Wonderful job on bring the little one back, just keep doing what you're doing. Your a great mom doing your best. |
udate Hi everyone. Amber and the pups are doing fine. Amber still is panting but not as much. Amber just looks so tired. Those pups keep her busy! 5 of the puppies have gained weightt and look great. I am still nervous for the little pup. She goes up and down on her weight. Her birth weight was 1.6oz and she goes down to 1.2oz. Right now she is back up to 1.6oz. She has not gotten over her birth weight yet. I also wanted to say that when Amber went to the vets yesterday I did have a heating pad under the box. Thats why I thought they would be fine for an hour while mommy was gone. Its time to go feed the little pup. I will keep everyone updated! Thank You!!!! :animal36 :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
So glad everyone is doing well. Prayers your tiny one starts catching up with her siblings. You and Amber are doing a great job. :) |
That's great to hear that the pups are doing well. I applaud you for doing the heating pad, I assumed maybe you didn't (I didn't read it) but I did want to clarify for reader. We'll be looking to see how the little one is. 1.6 oz is sooo tiny. Keep up the good work. |
