Well...this is a disturbing story.....Pat....how would someone purchasing a AKC Yorkie be assured that their pup actualy HAS the lineage the Breeder SAID it did!

I know AKC has records for every dog that is registered, when and with who. It almost seems like a run-a-around which is sad. Keep up with calling them frequently and even sending snail mail so you have a good record. If the grandfather isn't correct-- where did he come from and are they being looked at. I expect before long AKC to require DNA on both sires and dams for this very issue. Wishing you lots of luck.

The AKC moves at a snails pace. When there is a problem they often will step back and tell you to get a attorney. I know first hand. That they are not a lot of help when you need them.

Stay calm- be cool and hound the AKC- ask for every department that you can and talk to every person that you can. Remember the squeekey wheel will get greased.

In my situation, the only help Ive got from the AKC is "the party is still under investigation." But thats all they will tell you. They wont even tell you the date the investigation started.
The breeder assures me the problem will be resolved very shortly. I am so hoping it will. I really like to beleive people.
...........I really dont know how long I should wait? Maybe it will resolve? Maybe it wont. Sure seems to be a big drawn out problem.

A pedigree is only as honest as the breeders behind it. The only way to know 100%, is to have both parents DNA'ed...but it will be on your dime..AKC does not run routine tests unless for buyers unless there is a dispute as to who the sire actually is..then if it is found to all be correct, and the breeder is not at fault... you, the pup owner will have to pay all the fees..around $500 to start.

These things are not worth it to me..I alway say, "cut your losses and get out"...you can spend a fortune and much time with these kind of problems..deal with reputable breeders who stand behind their peds..and a reputable breeder would refund your money if a pup is not what they say it is...that goes for parentage, qaulity, size, whatever..

When Helen and I contacted the AKC about a breeder it took months. They will not tell you much of anything on their end. It took 7 months before they made a decision against this person. They would never tell us if anything had been done we found it in the minutes for the AKC Secretary in July.

Helen wrote to the AKC again on this same person because they have never gave her breeding information on who dogs that she co-owned with this person were bred too-who resulting puppies on females that she owned were sold to. This person had physical posession of the dogs for showing reasons
and it was hard for her to know what was going on. The AKC stated they would contact the other party in May- she is still waiting for the information.

Keep your chin up they move at a snails pace. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers- I know how difficult this can be for you.

Per the breeder.........the problem doesnt lie with who the sire is, it is who the mother is???????
They tested her dams for some reason. Two puppies DNA didnt match in a litter was what I was told. Puppies were mixed up during cleaning by a young helper is the story.
SO wouldnt it be a matter of sending in all the DNA's of females who had litters at that time? No one has matched up yet. But the breeder did mention having a male tested she had sold who had already left her house a few months before too. When I was told that I was confused even more.
Its all very confusing to me. I dont understand it at all truthfully. But the breeder has sent in DNA's so they are attempting to resolve the problem whatever the problem is....lol
They have successfully shown their dogs alot in the past, so it only makes sense they would want to clear the problem up and not lose their AKC privileges.
Just trying to be patient and optimistic all will be fine.

You should be able to get this worked out if the breeder is so co-operative as you say..and the breeder certainly can be telling the truth about the pups being mixed up by a helper.

A stud client have two litters from my boys some years ago. She took then in a large wicker basket to the vet for tail docking. She put a rolled towel down the center thinking she was safe..got home and all 8 pups were sleeping the middle of the basket together. She was honest and told me what happened. I with held AKC papers from her and the two litters were not allowed to be registered. There was no DNA back then, so there was nothing to do to fix it.

If she had not been honest and told me, I would have given her an application to apply for papers thinking all was well...that is how pedigrees are destroyed and become meaningless...the pedigree is only as honest as the breeder.

For anyone to request DNA from a breeder is a red flag IMO anyway...someone must have gotten wind of problems. JMO

Lynda I am sorry for what you are going through. I recently decided to add a female to my program and was talking with a certain show breeder. I had done everything but sign on the dotted line for the purchase of this particular dog. I had this uneasy feeling all of the sudden concerning this breeder and opted out of the purchase of this particular dog. Which I can now say that I am relieved that I did not go through with this particular deal. I am still in the market to add to my program and would like to ask if I may "who the dam and sire is to your puppy(s)? I believe that we all need to stick together and hopefully we can keep others from going through unnecessary heartache. Lynda I do hope that you have peace with this issue in the near future.

Wnalegria it would also be nice if you would enlighten us as to who you keep referring to in your threads. It seems you and Helen have alot to share. One would also think that if you co-own a dog with someone you would also keep records on the dog you co-own? For example you co-own at least two male dogs and I would presume that you have shared all the important information for recording keeping with the other co-owners of these two particular male dogs, right? I would be referring to when they have been used for stud and to what females they have been studded to.

This is fraud the police should get involved and set an example we pay good money for our babies you should sue her you know what Im soo sorry ,you bought with good faith she intentionally committed fraud.

My first Yorkie and his brother were sired by one of her dogs, Mine had PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosis) and required surgery to save his life, my friend's boy has a slowed Sinus Arrythmia upon Exhale, but nothing can be done to help him, keeping weight off, and proper excercise is the only thing that will prolong his life. Fortunately these 2 boys are neutered, but I can't speak for the other FOUR PUPS in the litter. :( This is very sad, and I am very sorry for you. :(
