morkies, goodie How exciting! I'll be keeping an eye out, I just had my first litter as well, a Morkie litter. Dad is a Yorkie and Mom Maltese. So I'm excited to see your Morkies. I had 3 precious females. The first one was dark like a yorkie with a moderate amount of tan and white. The next was likewise but darker, the next one was even darker. So I've named them light, medium and dark. Now, the hard job is to try not to get attached. Lacy contractions started coming around 12-18 hours after dropping into 98 degrees around 11:00 at night. Once she starts, it'll go pretty quickly. Good luck to you, I'm sure thing's will go smoothly. I'll be watching your babies progress. |
Ill be keeping an eye on this thead. I hope the whelping gooes smoothly for you |
Well I have already taken some pre-cautions LOL I called our vets office and let them know her temp had dropped and so they are on "stand by" you could say. We have a plan in place incase there is an emergency and I have a friend who I can go to for help in case I need help during the whelp but it doesn't constitute an emergency trip to the vet. So far she is still in stage one labor and has spent most of the morning sleeping. She has got up a couple times to go potty and then right back to her nap. The puppies are active and I can hear there little hearts beating strong! |
Yorktese or Morkie right? I cant wait to see pics of your babies!! They are such a cute mix..do you have pics of your maltese? Dawn |

I don't but I can get some LOL He is my father in laws maltese but he lives right next door. We call them Yorktese because the mom is a yorkie and the dad is the maltese. Just our personal choice. I have my camera ready for the babies so hopefully I will have pictures to post soon! |
good luck....i will be watching for updates |
AUTUMNS WATER JUST BROKE!!!!! I will update you all after everything is all done! talk to everyone later! |
Well Autumn had four puppies...all boys...but we lost two. One wasn't fully formed and the other ones placenta had detatched itself too soon. Autumn went to see her vet and he gave her an oxytocin shot just incase there were any more pups and a penicillan shot to stave off infection. |
Congratulations on the puppies!!!! I am sorry you lost two but it does happen. Just concentrate on keeping the two surviving puppies alive and healthy! Where are the pictures, we would love to see pictures!!! |
Congrats on the little ones. Post pics when you can. |
Oh I am sorry. I was so stressed out because there was some complications that I haven't taken pics. Well, I have two of the two boys, but we just got mom to settle down with them and be willing to let them nurse. So far this whole day was spent making sure mom was ok and that these two were able to latch on and the first two feedings we had to force her to lay down and nurse them. At one point I was so freaked out and worried that I would lose my Autumn. The trip to the vet wasn't even scheduled. So sure I was that her labor had stopped with another pup inside her that I just packed up her and pups up and hauled butt to the vets office and walked in and said LOOK...he was very understanding. I had already called him at home that morning. Because of the early seperation of the placentas she had some gross discharge but he took care of that too. He also did a pelvic exam and said he found no more pups. He palpitated her tummy and said he really thinks she had them all but I am sure there might still be one more (you don't argue with a mom who is concerned for her furkid!) This whole experience has made my mind up on one thing...Autumn is getting spayed!!! As soon as it is feasable to do so with the pups. |
