Red Legged Yorkshire Terriers
 
I just recently noticed on a site where a breeder is breeding a Red Legged Yorkie female to a champion AKC male. Guess I am wondering why someone would want to pass that trait on? :confused:

I have read the reason for doing this is to keep the color's in the future
litters more brilliant.

I personally would not take a chance of passing on the Red Legged syndrome to the puppies from the litter. You can always breed color back in without the red legged trait! I did notice on this particular site the sire has very nice coloring, so I do not believe that the color of the coat in the puppies is why it is being done.

Its said that a red leg can purify the coloring in the golds, eliminating any intermingled coloring. By second generation you should be able to acheive a deep rich gold/deep blue silk with very little color variance.

I am a hobby breeder and only breed maybe once a year.

I was not referring to your breeding. I seen this on another site and we have been speaking about it on a breeding list I belong to. But now you have confused me more. I do not mean anything personal by this, but I do not feel that your Hannah is of breeding quality and that has nothing to do with her being a red legged yorkie. By looking at her picture she does not meet the AKC standard. That is just my personal opinion and please do not take anything personal from it.

I mean no disrespect but I don't think this comment is appropriate. In fact, I don't think it's very nice either. You should PM her. If someone said something like this to me on a PUBLIC FORUM (if I was a breeder), I'd be offended. It is better to PM something like this so that no one's feelings are hurt or embarrassed. :)

everyone is entitled to their opinion...she has a nice head, good ear set, great rim color...perfect topline...her faults; legs are too long and modified (red leg) coat ...those faults I can live with!

Kim she's beautiful, I would take her puppies anyday :D Her face looks like Coco's face, almost exactly :p

Well, this is just MY personal opinion, so please don't take anything from THIS, but...you anyone would insult someone's breeding practice and then insulting their dog and then ask them not to be offended. And I'm not just talking about Kimberly and THIS situation. You have 24 posts on this board and nearly all of them seem to be controversial and questioning of some of the more seasoned and respected breeder members here. I'm not saying you aren't entitled to your opinion...I understand this is a public forum, yada yada yada, but I think it is very disrespectful.:mad: :thumbdown

awww thanks...but it seems normal, most all her posts are questionable, rude or condensending...see for yourself! Everyone is entitled to their opinion but she obviously has gone to my site and has a problem with my breeding choices...if this isnt a personal attack on my breeding practice please YORKIESAREAMAZING...please post the site youre refering to.

All dogs are beautiful, but that does not make all of them breeding quality. Nothing was meant personal by what was commented, but this is a public forum.

Why don't you post your website or pictures of your dams and sires. Then maybe we can publicly evaluate whether they are of quality. Since it's nothing personal and you ddid it, you won't mind if someone else does that to you right? :rolleyes:

I only breed to better the breed and not to make money. If you are not breeding for the betterment of the breed than why breed?

Well guess your avoiding posting the OTHER website, perhaps it doesnt exist It appears you are here only to cast doubt on me and other fellow breeders on YT, anyone can read your past posts and know what your motives are! what makes you hide behind this name, is it for safety, or perhaps you have something to hide unlike me!

Yea, thats what I thought. Totally ignored the other posts. I'm sure as a HOBBY breeder, if you were only interested in bettering the breed, you wouldn't mind posting their pictures But I think we pretty much all know your breeding practices and we know why you are here :thumbdown If you can't follow through and at least present evidence on your supposed standard yorkies, I suggest you watch what you type. Kimberly is loved and respected here and you have already started with a limp.
