Question for Breeders - Shipping? I expect you will guess why I'm asking ;) I am also asking so that I will not waste any of your valuable time. Many of you have websites that say "shipping available" or words to that effect. Should I assume that means inter-state shipping only? Or does it also mean international shipping? O..R....Do you specifically state international shipping if you are offering it? Many thanks :) |
I personally don't like shipping pets and will gladly make other arrangements, including flying with them myself. Many times this can be close to the same price as shipping if you shop around and don't mind odd hours of travel. I believe there are quarantine restrictions involved with shipping/bringing animals into the UK. |

Thank you both. I looked into our quarantine arrangements before posting, because the last thing I would want would be for a Yorkie pup (or adult for that matter) to have to go into quarantine. Guess what? the UK Government (or a tiny department of it) has caught up:D . There is a Pet Passport Scheme which, until I looked closely into it, I thought it was only for animal travel between European Union countries. But there is now quite an extensive list of countries that are included. The USA being one. The scheme allows for non-quarantine transfers subject to certain Vet checks and certification (probably part of the US routine in animal care, anyway). |
You may want to contact your local airport - air cargo department and speak with a broker. For a fee they can handle all the paperwork involved in the transportation from one country to another. I hope this helps. T. |
Thank you topknot. I've talked to Continental Airlines who seem very switched-on to pet travel and have recently opened a "state of the art pet kennel" at Huston. They have all the admin in place to shuffle the papers around. And at London, Heathrow things should go smoothly as I will collect the little bundle of joy. I live about 30 minutes away by road. Unfortunately, none of that means anything if US breeders do not ship internationally. |
Lorrie...I just love London and have a valid passport :D |
and... you'd be welcome to stay at my home anytime you come over - for whatever reason :) Not in central London, or course, but Greenwich, 10 minutes away from the centre - panoramic views of the city, surrounded by public parks and open heathland as well as a big-ish enclosed garden at my place that actually backs onto a park. I'm beginning to sound like an estate agent (realtor) :D |

....anyone else wanna be Lorrie's new best friend forever?:) |

But you'd better be quick. I'm thinking of down-sizing and getting myself a council owned terraced house in an area where the people are soooo friendly and often pop around with a pressie or to ask for a cup of sugar to go with their sweet course [3] |
any of the above will suit me just fine. We stayed near Notting Hill last spring and I just loved walking around town. Lots of great food and very friendly people.....and dogs! |

The awesome Harrison Ford walked past my office window a few years ago. I did a double-take but by the time I realised it really was Indie (my hero ) and rushed outside, he had disappeared in typical Indie fashion. He was staying in the area while making Patriot Games but I never saw him again. What a bummer ... |
1 Attachment(s) didn't see anybody famous..but took a pic of a bright green door that I loved (okay.I know it's wierd) and had tea at the Orangery at Kensington Palace. Harrison would've been cool... |

I'm *quite" taken with Sean Connery, Martin Sheen and any of the Baldwin brothers. Weird (see what I mean?) how yet another thread goes Off Topic into a much more interesting discussion. :) Edit: just seen pic. No 50 eh? know it well!!!!!! |
Lorrie you knew Barbara??? I spent many hours with Barbara, met them while living in Los Angeles I am a kitchen designer (along with their architect) we were involved in their final house together. I always loved calling there, when he answered the phone my heart would melt. |
see...and what gets me all excited is that Lorrie knows the house with the green door....if you're ever in the neighborhood, tell them I think it's fab. .....not that the thought of Cary Grant doesn't get me all swoony too. oh, I am so bad about going off topic. |

I LOVE HARRISON FORD! |
Kimberley I desparately need a complete kitchen make-over. Any chance of you dropping by soon? ;) kalina82 Hands off, girl, I saw him first. Sylvan I've passed on your message to No. 50 and, "swoony" would not have been in it, if I'd ever had the chance to meet Mr Archibald Leach, himself. :lovewings See what you've done, ladies. I started this thread in all seriousness, with a valid and pressing question that was very important to me in my 18 month long quest for a Yorkie. Now I've made myself look completely silly and nobody would ever entrust one of their puppies to me.:( So... nobody rates Sean Connery then? :thumbdown |

uh..Lorrie, um Kimberley and I are both breeders and I also do design work as my 'real' job.....so what flavor of puppy do you want me to bring? and I think Sean is  for a mcp..love the accent. |
Wassa mcp? Doh! Just worked it out. He's not really, it's just that wife of his is so err... schwoony. But he *is* a real man. You should see him in a kilt on a windy day  Quote:

Yeah and the poo-pee colour is very hard to put across to non-doggie designer-types over here:) |

yeah but he is one good looking older man! I'd gladly take him if i had the chance :luvu: |

i've sounded it out and i still don't know what it is LOL |
It's "swoony" in pseudo-Scottish, Connery-speak. Older men are good in all sorts of way - trust me - I married one. ;) |
I'm dating one...and I agree. Shall I book a flight to the UK? Kellie...wanna come along for the ride? |
