My breeder does it every other heat . . .and that is what he recommends me to do . . .so I will for probably do it for a couple of years only . . .don't want to sell too many yorkies . . .just want to give them to my family . . this way I can still see them whenever I want to or perhaps by then I can convince my DH more is good

My Abby is 5 and has had 3 litters. Her last litter was in march and it is aug. and she is in heat again. She has never had a problem and has had all healthy puppies. I want to breed her one more time and then fix her. Is it to soon to breed her again. She is in really good health. I hear a lot of breeders have bred back to back cycles.

The thinking on this, by majority of well known reproductive vets, is breed back to back, if you are keeping your lady in tip top shape...these breeders have to be treated like athletes...best diets, exercise, etc....It is the hormones that flood an intact, UNBRED females reproductive system, that causes all the problems and really tears our girls down. You make sure they are in the best physical and mental condition they can be in, breed them back to back, and then you spay them immediately, when you no longer want to breed them. That is what is best for the female. If you are having problems with your female, while carrying the babies, or during/after whelping, you may need to reconsider breeding that female at all.

i would never breed my female that many times and back to back. maybe it is for money
my yorkie had her first litter at 2 on her 3rd heat and then 4 heats and 1 1/2 yrs later she should be pregnant again now . after this i doubt ill breed her again i think 2 times is enough for her shes 4 1/2 lbs and going to be 4 in december. Last time pregnancy was perfect no nausea vomiting or diarrhea even after eating everything she she was in labor. she did so good, last litter went to family member, this time im keeping them except one will go to my mom.

No, it isnt for the money...it is because the hormones produced by an intact, unbred female, wreck havock on their reproductive organs, according to people that have spent years and years studying and majoring in reproduction in dogs. That is not speculatation, it is a proven fact. If you are going to breed your female, you need to be doing it with her health a primary concern. Breed her or spay her. Personally, I would not be breeding a female under 5 lbs, as I think that is a health concern, again statistically proven, increased chances of complications with whelping in females under 5 lbs. I try to keep proven, evidenced based, scientific outcomes as my guidelines for anything I do with my babies.....I dont like bucking or challenging proven theories!

Ok I don't mean to sound mean but the below is copied from your response to someone else. Exactly how old is Roxie really and how much does she weigh?

But wouldn't it be better every other heat, they're not machines and breeding back to back would feel wrong to me mostly all breeders I've talked to say every other heat. And I'm regards to females under 5 I think it all depends on the dog like my 4 1/2 lb female hasn't had problems when a 7lb would. Every pregnancy is different like in humans I almost needed c section for my 7lb son but not my 9lb daughter. But I understand what you mean, It's better to be safe than sorry.

And did you not see this response is from 3yrs ago so it could've been my roxy or my brothers dog I had at that time you think a dogs age won't go up in 3 yrs god I haven't been here in yrs and people start attacking thinking my dog will be a puppy 3 years later.
