I just want to say one more thing ... all I really wanted was for Ivan to acknowledge what happened and show some FEELINGS. He just didn't care, period. I only went to him to see if he would show some kind of remorse or smypathy for what happened to Katie. But in all honesty, he just didn't care and he never even said I'm sorry. :( |

Listen for him to show any sympathy would be for him to admit to himself that what he is doing by selling animals like that for profit is wrong. Now you know he is not about to admit that with the way he charges and runs his business. It's very sad that there are people out there like that who are only about the bottom dollar. I can only imagine how he has the pups that are in his storage area. |
i totally agree..great post! i have learned from my mistake...my toy poodle came for there and i vow to never ever get another dog from a petstore! |
s & v When did you purchase your poodle? Just curious if you would not go back to S & V because of the reviews and their reputation or because of health issues with your dog? |
I too, purchased my Millie from Ivan. She will be 2 years old in September and thank God (so far) she hasn't had a sick day since I got her (aside from the time she ate a piece of a sock and had a belly ache:rolleyes: ) She is my happy, healthy, well adjusted baby, and I cannot imagine not having her in my life. But, when I was in the market for a third dog, I did not go to Ivan. I feel I "dodged the bullet" with my Millie, I wasn't going to tempt fate and get another dog from him. Chances are your little baby will be fine and he'll grow up to be a happy, healthy dog.. (from my mouth to God's ear). Just be aware and at the first sign of something unusual, go straight to the vet. Believe me.. I watch Millie very closely. |

Thx- That is good to know and I am happy to hear! Is Millie a yorkie? Do you know if she is from R. Wall breeder in FL? Did you ever get your papers from them? Tomorrow I've had my puppy for 3 weeks and still nothing. I am going to relax though, I had two vets look at Winnie and they both said she is really healthy..starting to feel like I am dodging bulletts too..I love her, she is still worth all of the stress, but I am definitely going elsewhere next time.. I just saw the Biewer Yorkie..that is going to be my next one (once i get winnie trained :animal36 ) I am starting research now to find a reputable breeder. |

Yes, Millie is a Yorkie. Honestly, I don't know where she came from... I never really looked. I never sent in the AKC papers and I think subconscienously, I don't want to know because if I find out she is from a puppy mill there is nothing I can do about it and like Jen said, I will be tortured with pictures of her Mommy sitting in a cage suffering. For me... its best not to know. What I do know is that I will not buy another puppy from him again. |
Please do not support the puppy mills by buying at a pet store. the stores are buying the dogs from the puppy mills for $250-$400 each and selling them for $1000 and up. So many problems. find a breeder; ask for referrals; go see the puppy in its home environment but please don't buy from pet stores--they are in business to sell puppies; not after care; not middle of the night help or reassurance. just profit. If you have a credit card, they will sell you a puppy. |
Quality Canines in Brooklyn As for myself, my family & I have bought in total, six dogs over the years from S & V Quality Canines, in Brooklyn on Stillwell Avenue and intend on continuing to use them. It is a storefront, however the owners are the breeders themselves, who love their pups, are very knowledgeable and love what they do. And it shows when you walk in their immaculate store and see their well taken care of pups who are generally healthy. Plus, the customer service extends well long after the purchase (which is hard to find), as I have called them many times for advice. These breeders have been around for a long time, which is why my family has and continues to use them. All of our dogs have been active and healthy until old age!!! Plenty of love and pleasure come from my adorable doggies, so I am loyal to where I got them. |

thank you for saying that. I'm happy for those who have healthy puppies - but all I can say is anyone who buys from these pet stores IS KEEPING PUPPY MILLS IN BUSINESS This store does not breed all their own dogs - it's been documented already...ANYONE CAN Search this site and see other reviews about this pet store - but it's a personal decision that each should make on their own - I know I'll never buy from ANY store that deals with puppy mills - EVER |

??????????????????The only posts this person has answered have been about this breeder. HUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!   |
So many people just don't know about puppymills and petstores. :( They get caught up in the moment see a pup and buy it , not knowing the background of the pups parents or the breeder and how they do their business. 1 poster bought her male pup that was 5.2 lbs at 12 wks for $900. I am very happy her dog is healthy and she loves him, but with that said, I'm about sure this pup will not be within the standard and could get over 10 lbs. ( I am not putting down larger Yorkies , but $900 ..??..) Bottom line, pet stores need to pay rent for their building, salaries, electric, etc. So they MUST buy cheap pups and sell them for big $$ just to make any money at all. The price you pay will be triple what the pet store paid. NO caring BREEDER would ship a litter of pups to a petstore to be sold to who knows who unless they are just merchandise to be sold. Seriously, think about it for all who love your dogs. Could you ever have a litter of puppies and watch them grow and get puppy kisses and them crate them , and ship them off to the unknown??. Thats what happens!!:( SO if they can do this to their puppies , think about the poor adults. Just merchandise and money makers. Most are poor quality as they buy in bulk and don\'t take the time to pick and choose quality. It pulls at my heart when I sell my pups to wonderful families, how in the world could you send them off across the country to a unknown life?? Yes there are bad breeders, but in my opinion pet stores are out of the question for so many reasons. Ok, I\'m done now |
