I am located in Dickson City, that is about 3miles from scranton and about 12 miles from wilkes barre

I wonder why the breeder is willing to let him go for $650 when she originally was asking $800. It's only under rare circumstances, size and development that I let one of my babies go before they are 12 weeks old. It's more than just being able to eat and drink on their own. They need that extra time for development of important doggie skills. I love watching the mother teach her babies to play-fight. Of course, I am going to have to depend on my other yorkies to teach our five little girls who at 8 days old lost their mommy. At least they got a good head start and are very healthy and active already. I'd give my right arm to have my Reggie back with us.

They should be over 8weeks and they should weigh 2lbs.

Other things need to be considered besides age and weight. Much more important is social and skilled development and only the breeder can see how that is progressing. In my opinion, one who sells yorkies at 6-8 weeks is really missing the boat and more than likely just doesn't want to be bothered with the extra care needed after that. It's amazing the difference between one at 8 weeks and one at 16 weeks old. I have sold some at 8 weeks, however, they were at least 2.5 pounds and very well adjusted with good development and yorkie skills. Once the puppies are weaned from the mother, doesn't mean they are ready to go anywhere. What takes place after the weaning is amazing to see and just as if not more important than their first 6-8 weeks. The mother actually teaches her babies things that us humans aren't capable of doing.

I got a pup at 6 weeks and he got sick on me shortly after I got him. I would try to find an older pup. Take it from me it was very stressful to have such a young and small pup sick.

Some breeders think that it is fine to let a puppy go at 7 or 8 weeks if the puppy is atleast 2 pounds, but the one you are talking about is not even that. I personally would not let the pups leave until 10 or 12 weeks. Makes you wonder why she is so eager to get rid of the pup that small and that young. :eek:

from what I have learned on here that is way too young to leave the mother. having said that, i got Ceeby, my first baby, when he was eight weeks and nine ounces. he is now almost nine months old and weighs a little over three pounds.

I agree with you. I got mine at 6 weeks and it is like having a baby. If I would have known it was to early I would have told the breeder to keep her a few more weeks.
