I'm not baiting anyone, Irene. I never have. An argument is a collected series of statements to establish a definite proposition...I didn't mean fight here..

The "Biewer argument" is what Platinum Yorkie (which is far more respectable than PY) merely stated, that is not a bait because we all know how you differ with the origin of the Biewer than most other Biewer owners and it is a constant agrument on this forum!!

Back to the question. I would not breed a Yorkie and a maltese. But My first Yorkie was a Yorkie/ maltese. mix and looked just like a yorkie. She was the best little dog but had so many problems One being her back legs was way longer then the front ones. and she had been stepped on at a few weeks old. I do know a lot of people that are asking for this mix breed and would pay lots of money to have one. They are so cute. But again no I would not mix them.

I love reading your posts, dskeeter. You're absolutely right about this one. There is speculation, some more educated than others, but no one has any proof.

ok sorry for even bringing up the yorkie maltese question.

first of all i started the whole mixed breed thing then me and jeanik got into a disscussion about wht breeds where mixed to get a yorkie then
Irene and I got into another discision about biewers this is a mess i agree and i give up on explianing i dont think it is doing me any good here.
i am starting to judge people and i dont think that is right to begin with so lets forget that i even asked about mixed breeding and go on to the other threads and enjoy our day on YT. :) :thumbup: :) :thumbup: :)

I have mentioned the arguments that have ensued on YT over several topics to my fiancee. Granted he is not a real dog person (although he loves our little Nicky) but he just shook his head. He doesn't understand the passion people feel about topics and to him it is just "people fighting over stupid dogs." I disagree about the "stupid dog" part but it does give us food for thought. Do some people realize how ridiculous they come across when they allow themselves to become insulting to others merely over a disagreement in points of view? It would embarrass me to see myself stoop to such a level as to insult people I don't even know over such trivial things. Most times I express myself in an educated fashion but please allow me to refrain from that just a second. COME ON PEOPLE, STOP BEIN' SO GHETTO!! (lol just wanted to lighten the mood ;) )

Ok..I can see how you would interpret if you didn't know me. But you can read all the threads I've posted and I have never baited!!! I brought up Biewers because I felt it was a good time to clear the air about the confusion of them. You are reading between lines that aren't there. The ONLY reference I have (and others have found) to the Maltese being used was a pronouncement by a "dog writer" (a reporter of sorts) of the day (cira 1880's). In one of his critques of a current dog show......he remarked as to the extreme improvement in the "silk coated Yorkshire Terrier" of the previous 20 years or so. There is mention of the reporter and his proclaimation in Joan and Janet Gordon's book...."The Yorkshire Terrier". And when I saw this in the book.....I researched and found the original article.....this "reporter" was basicly just making note of the "improved silk coat". He could not believe ordinary breeders had been able to accomplish such a feat.....they just had to use the Maltese blood. <G> I have many books from the early years of the Yorkshire Terrier....and none of the breeders of that era agree that this was done.....after all....how in the heck would they retain the saddle pattern....a Maltese does not have a saddle....it is all one color. And a Yorkie does have a unique body style.
