| Heat again already? Help! Anyone got any ideas on this? My girl just had her puppies 2 weeks ago tomorrow, which means her last heat cycle was in December. Is it really possible that she is in heat already again? Since the birth she has had a very light clear discharge and she was taken to the vet for a checkup when the pups were 4 days old (they were getting their tails and claws done). Vet said everything was fine then. All placentas came out with the same pup that they were attached to. Pup came first, then placenta, still attached. No massive bleeding at all...birth was totally UNcomplicated. Thank heavens. She has just started this bloody discharge tonight. And of course, all the other dogs in the house are going nuts over it. (Boys are no where NEAR her....don't worry.) I will be calling the vet in the morning....just wanted to calm my nerves before then with responses from you guys. Nothing's wrong with my girl right?

| I have Never heard of a female coming into heat so soon after having puppies. The discharge sounds normal.

| She could still have a bloody discharge from the whelping. Check her temp to be sure there's no fever and check with your vet. I wouldn't think she would be in heat again though. |

| It is perfectly normal for the new mommy to have a bloody discharge following the birth of a litter...just like humans! |

| Bloody discharge can be normal after whelping. But, it can also be a sign of pyometria which is very dangerous. I would take her back to the vet just to be safe....She is probably fine but I would rather know for sure by having her checked.. |
