Biewer lineage I would be interested in in hearing the opinions of all the breeders on this. I have been looking into the parentage of some of puppies. The two specific Biewer lines that I would like some information about is the UZ vonder Elsteraue & Gahna von der Hemsbach lines. What health concerns do you know about these lines? Does anyone here have any puppies/dogs from these lines? |
I do and all of my biewers are in excellent health. Ghana came Von der Hemsbach but was owned by a different breeder. She was mated to the male, you have mentioned, and both produced a liver shunt puppy. I know the breeder personally and she had all of her dogs tested for LS, all bile acid tests checked out fine. I also have a Hemsbach baby and he's in great health. I know that there are quite a few people on YT, and also a few friends, who have this line in their Biewers and so far there hasn't been any problems. The breeder is one lovely lady who'll stand behind her dogs. Coincidently, there's another thread on this forum that is asking roughly the same general question and as you can see by the answers you just have to know the breeders and what is behind your dogs... |
1 Attachment(s) I also have a Hemsbach puppy,He's my Oreo, 8 months old and solid as a rock. I coudn't have asked for anything better. Wouldn't deal with anyone else but her. and hopefully will be getting another one soon from her. |

One of my studs is Hemsbach. What is the concern about this lineage?? |
I received a nasty email from someone who is not happy with me because what I say loud and clear about Biewers not being bred to just any Yorkies..again per the IBC. This person went a little too far to tell me that: 'there is something wrong with my dogs' and referencing the Hemsbach line. I would be happy to share the email with anyone that's interested in reading it. I want to expose this nasty human being. The email was totally uncalled for and rude. There are many, including myself that have some Von der Hemsbach lines that are not happy with this derogatory comment made about a wonderful breeder and her dogs. Kind of interesting how this the thread suddenly came up. |
Irene~I thought you wanted this whole thing squashed? BTW...I need help from you...I gave up chocolate for lent and that means no more DQ malts for a while...you will have to eat enough for me until Easter! :( |
I'll have a DQ for you.. :p |

I think your Oreo is beautiful. I am interested in the Biewers. Would you mind pming me with some info? I've been owned by Yorkies for over 30 years but would love to learn more about the Biewers. Thank-you. :) |
Irene, I would like to see that PM, oops e-mail message, about this since I too have a von Hemsbach male. Is this just nasty-mail or are there quotes or something? What do you think the purpose of the message and sender was?? |

To kisszoe and scapindee, non of us have had any health issues so far with our Biewers for the lines you are inquiring about. If you are interested in learning more about them, you should really get in contact with the different Biewer breeders in Germany. They all have had so much more experience in the questions you are searching for. A lot speak English and will be happy to help you. We are all very new at this, and many of us have not even had our first litters yet. All I can say is that so far my Biewers are healthier in all aspects then my Yorkies. Best of luck!! Karin |

I loved the pics of Oreo, so cute. This line is absolutely beautiful which is why we all are charmed by the Biewers. I would like to continue learning about these different lines and I'm willing to correspond with any of the breeders here or in Germany. Please PM or email with any breeders' names who would be interested in helping all of us learn. I will share as many of you have said we are all learning. |
Lots of info in the archives...But as litters are born and we who breed them have more experience with them, we will have more accurate info to share with you all. Since the breed is only 3 1/2 years old to us in this country, we can hardly call ourselves experts..But there is nothing wrong with admitting we are all novices in this process. I, for one, feel like I know as much as anyone else up to this point and with 2 litters on the ground, I expect to learn more and more and more.. |
