AKC. All the way! I have a male AKC. with Full Registration (Not Limited), when I was looking for my Female "Abigail" I came across a Local Breeder that had a CKC. Litter from CKC. Parents. Frankly I think he was a "Puppy Mill"? He tried to talk me into switching from AKC. to CKC. because he claimed that the CKC. would not charge as much for Registration, and had less red tape and less restrictions on Bloodlines/Pedigrees. He wanted me to purchase a Female register with the CKC. and then register my male also with the CKC. and then register my future litters with the CKC. But to tell you the truth that would be like erasing my "Artie's" whole Family Tree and slapping the AKC. in the face, what would be the point of me paying the price for Top Quality AKC.? And let me say that a high price does not assure high quality! He in fact was charging me a higher price @ $500.00 more for his CKC. puppy for a lower standard? I ended up, of course buying a AKC. female, that happened to have all the characteristics I was looking for......I just got Lucky? I had a strict criteria and no budget so the sky was my limit, but after getting my first one on a whim, without any research and paying $3,000.00 I swore I would never do that again! Just because you buy a pair of Designer shoes on sale, doesn't mean that it's any less in quality they are still a $500.00 pair of shoes! I just found them for less? Only the women would understand my last statement? You get what you pay for! The AKC. is the Best, why go with anything less? Breeders make a lot of promises, just to make a sale. (No offense to anyone here) unfortunately they are out there! :aimeeyork |
AKC, CKC, UKC, APRI.. it seems all the same to me. All puppies that need/have great homes. But if someone lied about the registration of the puppy, I guess that's a whole different story! I just personally think the AKC is overrated. I'm sure any purebed CKC dog will be just as sweet as any AKC dog. |

Thank you all, you have confirmed for me I should purchase akc. I do find sooo many ckc puppys though and they are much cheaper. Then I was sooo very disappointed because I found a yorkie male, I knew he was "the one" for $1000, akc. I called the breeder, next thing I know the price is $2500 for the same dog for the reg. papers. Her ad never mentioned that, her website never mentioned that, I never said I intended to breed or even gave her that idea, because I really dont know if I will. I know some breeders charge extra for full registration, but an addtl $1500 for papers. I am angry  and sad, I really wanted that puppy :( but i have to accept that I think there is a reason this happened, maybe that wasnt the puppy for me and something better will come along. |

Good luck, you\'ll find a little boy. Believe me, I know how that dissapointment feels. I searched for Bailey for a year before I finally found him! |
