Breeder Talk Hi everyone... Just have to say this..I've been a member of yt since the early summer. I always enjoy the breeder talk forum. Atleast I did. I'm going to just come out and say it because I'm a really straight forward kinda gal.... I don't want to discuss one breed vs. the other. I don't want to make everyone feel obligated to "lay it out on the table" concerning "breeder facts". I don't want to have our threads constanlty turn into a debate. Because of my nature, I do tend to voice my opinion at times. However, what I do want is for Breeder talk to be about just that. I want to discuss our experiences as breeders. I want to help anyone with a question that I may be able to answer concerning their litter or upcoming litter. I want to share my experiences and the experiences of others. I think this section of the forum is loosing something. Thanks. |
I think you're right, Robbie. Whenever I even peek in on a thread in this forum I cringe. LOL. That's not the way it should be! |

This isn't anything about when the yorkie became it's own BREED. This is about a place to talk about whelping, breeding, studs, bitches, techniques, feeding, our fears, our experiences, and our advice to others who are expecting babies or planning to breed. |
I agree !!! I have to agree with you so much here Robbie thank you for bringing this up...   Sorry I have been trying to educate so I am very guilty here... :( But as a breeder I feel this is my duty to educate... too. But yes it has gotten out of hand... What is it next--- I have a TRUE Yorkie !!!  It has to stop !!!! It is offensive to say the least. When using caps we are yelling. Maybe put this under off the topic or something like that... Breeder page is actually what you state it should be...  JMO |
Robbie....You said it perfectly....I'm not a breeder but love reading this section  I've learned SO much about Breeding here....but lately it's turned more into a Pis**ng Contest than Breeders "Talking". I can honestly say.... I don't think I learned one thing these last few days except to say that the Breeding world is VERY small... and VERY political. |
I wanted to add I hope I didn't offend anyone - I just hate to see anyone with hurt feelings ... you all have so much to offer & it's just been sounding like a "My dog is better than your dog" Section lately.... If we did this with yorkies we'd have lots of upset people. |

I would like to add (after the fact that this is PERFECTLY said by Yorkiemom) that the breeder section is a very important section within YT. It is highly helpful to many. I would hate to see many not want to be part of this section due to elevated debates and negativity. It is important for breeders to have an area to share their experiences, help, etc with other breeders and those wanting to become breeders. We must remember that behind these breeders are our beautiful little fur babies. |
Robbie, I completely agree with you. This shouldn't turn into a "who's better" or "who does what" debate. I know that I have avoided other questions and threads because how I felt was that it was no one's business but is between me and a potential buyer. I shouldn't have another breeder or non-breeder ask questions wanting me to "lay my cards" on the table. And for whatever reason, when I avoided certain threads, they would magically be bumped anytime I was on line. I felt that this was childish but I played along. Also, I've not ever advertised with the for sale format. If I have puppies and someone is interested, they've contacted me. Then, any issues are discussed with the potential buyer either through pm-s or by e-mail or even phone. What I sell is no one's business so they have no right to question. JMO However, if someone has questions in the breeder's section about their own bitches, I'm more than happy to oblige...even if it goes so far as to giving out my phone number, which I have done and have talked people through. |

I too feel this is way.. I'm here to learn as much as I can, to have a sound breeding program..I would love to see the section with less heated debate..just facts, helping one and another and sharing experiences. We all had to start somewhere.. I have learned so much and would like to say A BIG Thank you to Yorkierose she has always answered my many questions without making me feel I'm Stupid...because I want to start breeding. SO.. THANK YOU YORKIEROSE you are tops in my book....Sherry |

I dearly love YT, you guys have so much knowledge. My goal is to have excellent breeding stock that conform to the breed standard. The health of my babies are very important. I certainly don't want to carry any genetic health problems down line. |
I think all in all it has been a informative thread, I have enjoyed reading MOST of it. And to those who are interested in breeding the Biewer or breeders of the Biewer I am sure it was VERY interesting. However the pettiness has gotten to be a bit much. Debate is fine if done while being respectful of others opinions be they right or wrong. Being insulting and petty does nothing for credibility. I would hate to see breeding threads getting closed because of that. JMHO |
talk Good post.. |
:bravo: :bravo: Robbie. Well said. Maybe someone could start a new thread called Bitc* sessions. And the ones that wanted to could do their thing. |
We can hope that the message is heard- this is well said- I am hoping we were only using Caps to indicate a difference not insult- but regardless- this is not beaver talk....start a new site - as pointed out they are a different breed- I am not saying I do not want to hear about then, as actually I do like to hear about all dogs, but the way things were going was wrong- On a side note I took great offense to the "lay your cards on the table" mentality of several threads lately- and I am not a breeder-- Some things are none of our business and should stay that way- IMO. If we do not have a basic respect for others we have nothing- and lately that respect has been missing- again just my opinion.... |

Sure...In another forum. One which doesn't mind meaningless chatter. |
LOL !! Are you tryin to tell us something Schatzie ? :D :D :D |
This is a good thread. I think people become passionate about what they believe and get carried away sometimes. Im no different. Many times Ive seen things said I just dont respond too, I used to get bent out of shape pretty easy or get my feelings hurt but I try not to now. Sometimes I see posts that bother me, not so much as for myself, but for someone elses feelings now. I think "How would that make me feel?" Before I post I really do try to "put on their shoes" We all have different views on things and its okay. I think someones views alot of times come from experience. In example some breeders would never feel comfortable releasing any of their babies at 8 weeks but some ( not all) of mine I feel comfy with it so they go home and they have done very well. Its been a good experience for me and the owners but if it became a problem, I would adopt a new policy for the sake of the puppies and owners. Ive seen threads where websites have been critiqued and I cringe, I think "Oh please I hope I dont see a thread about how horrible a breeder I am or how my dogs are unkept or or or " but you just cant make everyone happy and you can only do what you think is right. It comes from experience and if you have the right intentions , a good heart, and the willingness to learn then you are on the right track. I was given some very good advice from some of the old timers on here quite some time ago (not meaning old I mean wise..ladies and gents!....lol) "do what you think is right, learn from experience, and dont be afraid to change policies if they dont work, and get a tougher hide" For many months Ive had yorkietalk on my helpful links page and it will remain, although people will see threads in contradiction to what I may practice or think, its a great place to learn. Lots of very knowledgeable people here. Heck they may decide to go with another breeder from here instead of me......."would that be offensive to me?"........NOPE.........because people need to go with what feels good to them and stick to their belief systems. Ive adopted alot of good advice from here into my young program and IM sure I will learn more and I am very grateful. Forcing ones personal beliefs or practices on another doesnt seem to have much success. Gentle guidance or a well meaned suggestion has a much better success rate I think. |
.........Oh and I would also like to add to my babbling book.....hahaha.. YORKIEROSE was one of my main suggestors at my very first visits at yorkietalk....always kind to me..... Thank you Yorkierose !!!!! Your a classy lady. |

It is funny you say that...it reminds me of when I first joined which was a little over a yr ago(I think) anyway my sister was at our house for a visit and I was on YT...anyway I was reading a post by Yorkierose and she said something to me...I replied that well Yorkierose said....... ever since then she will say to me sometimes when we are discussing something- "well what would Yorkie rose say?" Hope you don't mind pat but it has now become our little joke between her and I..:) |

Great thread! I admit I have some questions, now that I've found YT and HAVE learned more about breeding and pups, that I won't ask because I know there will be that one post that will treat me as an idiot because I didn't know 'the answer' before I let my girl breed. I do think its sad when someone 'attacks' another for asking a question, however naive it might be. I will continue to read & learn :) |
That a girl Lissie!!! :) I see that hide getting thicker! There are no idiot questions! Try to let some things slide and pick and chose what works for you. |

Perhaps we should also recognize that everyone is entitled to his/her opinion and not take everything so totally personally. I for one don't know anyone well enough to have anything personal in mind..... |
