This bothered me... I ran across this kennel on accident, then browsed around a bit. There is a pic on this page of a clipped yorkie male. On the left hand side. Under his picture it states "he has been clipped to keep from getting hair knots which is a usda and state requirement". I just can't get over that. I really despise usda liscensed kennels. I'm sorry if I offend anyone with that statement, but I just get so angry at some of the things I see. One of the MANY joys of owning my yorkies is their beautiful coats. Sometimes I do a bit of scissoring for sanitation reasons, but I'll grow it back out better than ever. I had my boy done in a lion clip; keeping his beautiful facial hair and hair on head. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I could never abide by such regulations as the usda enforces. I know that they also force breeders to keep their breeding stock in a seperate facility, other than their home. This saddens me. But at the same time I look over at my gang all piled up on one of their many beds and I say a prayer and thank God that I am blessed and my babies are blessed. When I read that under that poor yorkies picture on the website I guess it just really bothered me and I needed to vent. Here's the site: http://www.snarlsandwags.com/yorkie.html |

That makes me sad, and angry, too. Dogs were not meant to be mass-produced in a kennel. My two Yorkies are the loves of my life, I spend hours, bathing, grooming, trimming them, and the reward for my dedication is their love and beauty. We have to earn it, and when we do, we have to cherish it. Sheila |
That's why the kennel name is "SNARLS" and wags! Not happy dogs  :( Obviously the "wags" part is when they find there forever homes! :) Plus she has a "teacup" girl! ARRRGGGHHHH!!! Quote:

This is all still fairly new to me, But I have never heard that the USDA makes you shave off a dogs coat?? Could this really be true?? ANd I for one did not like that site!! Too many different breeds! |
All the dogs looked terrible. Very sad. Did the male maltese have his tongue hanging out? :( And he's 12 lbs! mixed to a mutt. |
They have SO MANY dogs! :thumbdown |

I think it's because they are a mass breeder & don't WANT to WORK to keep their dogs looking their best - shave off the hair - and you don't have to touch the dog. Which in turn means....no bonding - just breeding probably. :( that IS sad....they have too many breeds for them to be very caring. No one can keep up with that many dogs. I couldn't imagine not touching my girls...I can hardly go an hour without a kiss....and I LOVE doing their hair...they love it too. |

Ugggghhhh! That makes me sooooo upset and sad all at the same time. Shame on those people. USDA??? What is that all about? Those poor babies. I go nuts too if I can't kiss my boys like all the time!!!! And to hold them!! When I am at work I can't wait to get home and kiss on them and snuggy with them. OMG |

I can only speak for Illinois. I believe it is the same for Indiana but plz correct me if Im wrong. Did you know if you own 6 breeding females to be legal you are suppose to have a kennel license thru the Illinois state Dept of Agriculture, which adheres to the USDA regulations? I always thought people with this license had tons of different breeds or tons of one breed. Not true. A few of them Im sure now are just being legal. Ive been looking into a license and found this out recently. In regards to the website, I see no mention of having to cut a dogs hair off to meet regulations in the book???? Did you see the size of chain on this clipped yorkie ? Is it around his neck? FOr heavens sake. It was very disappointing to me to know that being licensed makes you house your dogs in a separate building, especially with the change being at so few of a number. |

I have to say that the looks of the Maltese bothered me the most :( |
I really love the pitbull chain he is being held with on the table as if they need that much restraint for a small yorkie. :thumbdown  |
The entire site bothered me. The chain, the maltese, and alot of things. |

I just went and looked at this site again. I had only seen the male at first. Did you see Matty, Pigtail and Shyla? http://www.snarlsandwags.com/Maltese.html I think they are maltese, that's how bad they look. I am very upset about they way they look. Matty's whole back body is completely STAINED brown! :cry8:  |

I don't know-haven't been reading on there for a log time. I do know that the names on the USDA lists by state have several licenses in different names. I was told that is because they can be up and running without a delay, if their license are revoked or suspended. I know the breeders in this area, especially PA, have many breeds and many dogs of each breed. There is a post on SmallPawsRescue about a mill that they went to for voluntary surrender of several different dogs..mostly Bichons but a couple of other breeds too. It makes for some gut-wrenching reading..And, the miller had just passed their USDA inspection.. |
Did you all read the " We are not a puppy mill" statement...hmmm. |

The USDA thing, really concerns me, because I just found out, that the breeder of one of my dogs, is co-breeding with a breeder on the USDA list. And while I only have pets, I only support reputable breeders. It is my small way of not-supporting millers and BYB's. I feel if all pet owners followed this policy, we'd put those people out of business. I've seen, and read stories in Resuce that make me just hate some people in this world. Sheila |
Very sad...the min pins were the only ones that didn't look terrified! :( |
What bothers me also is that I feel that if a breeder shaves down every single dog they own all the time, like you see on that site, then they obvisously don't put alot of their time into taking care of their dogs and must only want ONE thing from them. None of those dogs were groomed and the white one's look brown. I know that clipping them down is done by some for reasons such as babies on the way, summer clip, ect. I have done this myself. I just did one of my boys. However , there is a fine line there. I'm not really all that familiar with usda and their procedures. I don't personally know any usda liscensed breeders either. I can only hope that the paws act doesn't go through, because for me personally I could not follow usda rules as I feel they are not in the best interest of MY dogs. My friend was telling me recently concerning the paws act, that if it were to pass, and a breeder is already being inspected by the AKC, then usda will not interfere with that. I don't know how much truth is in that or if its a fact, but I surely hope so. |
Ok, I just went to the site and came away angry..... shaving the poor little cutie is bad enough, but what was this about "no mate except for a poodle? What are these folks thinking, do you have to breed anything that walks? :thumbdown |
