| When is the right age for a male? Hi all I live in London, UK. My male puppy is 10 months old now and he started humping different toys, pillows, our legs & hands. I was wondering if he could go for breeding this early. I don't mind about making money or whatever I was just wondering if there is a way for him to 'fulfil' his 'needs'! He doesn't have any paperwork or certification that proves that he is indeed a Yorkshire terrier so I was wondering if it is still OK for him to breed and what can I do? Many thanks AP |

| Neuter him! He is a wonderful, precious PET, but without a pedigree that justifies him as a wonderful example of a Yorkie, meeting at the very least, the majority of the criteria used to determine the breed standard, he should NOT be used as a breeder! |

| He is not registered with the Kennel Club. He should not be bred. There are plenty of dogs in England without homes, you don't need to add to the over-population. Get him neutered, and keep him as a pet.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | No don't breed him! First many dogs after being bred don't get better with humping etc, they get worse! So in human terms you don't miss what you don't know. If you breed him, he will now know what he is missing. You can stop the humping like most unwanted behaviour. You can also make sure your dog is well exercised and as well is mentally stimulated. A tired dog is a good dog He is not Kennel Club registered, you are not even sure he is a purebred dog, why contribute to the population of mixed dogs? I believe in England that they recommend pet owners neuter their dogs, and it is usually the best decision for most pet owners.
