Yorkie breeders please respond Hi my name is Eddy and I am the proud owner of Lola - a 5 month old, black & tan, female yorkie. I am also a proud owner of Penny- a one and a half year old, red, female miniature pinscher. I wanted to know if there were any male yorkie or male mini pin owners out there near Rhode Island, Massachussetts, or Connecticut???? I am looking to breed my mini pin soon and my yorkie in about 6 months. If anyone out there feels they have any information, I would like to hear it. *** Also, to whom it may concern, when should I stop breeding my mini pin and yorkie????.........Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you Eddy (contact- eye2eye763@hotmail.com)

I assumed you'd rather have a long term breeder answer your questions and not just anyone that didn't have a clue about breeding. sorry.

I am going to be honest and not mean, but I feel you need to ask this question" When should I START breeding my Yorkie and Min Pin?" If you do not already know these answers that is a place to start your research. Are your dogs pets? If so, why would you take a chance on a complicated pregnancy that might harm your pets? What is their ancestry? Health history? Faults? Medical conditions? What size are they? How experienced are you with breeding or raising litters? What would you do if either of your females could not feed and care for the puppies? Are you at home all the time to hand feed babies 24/7?Can you find a mentor who will stand by you thru thick and thin? If you think these things are not really important, please read the posts on here about breeders, both experienced and novices who have bred with fatal results..Breeding is SO much more than putting 2 dogs of opposite sexes together to make babies..

Well hello there Hello. I just wanted to start off by saying thank you to Kimberly aka TXshopper. I was not at all rejecting your comment. Infact, I appreciated it alot. I posted another comment to encourage more people like yourself to respond. I didn't want anyone who read the message to hold back because one person already answered. That's all. I am not on here to dispute with anyone. I am on here to seek advice. And I appreciate Whispersmom and Yorkieusa for replying as well. But I did want to mention that I do have mentors, and I have thought about many things before considering breeding. My mentors are very experienced and have offered to help me with anything I need. I have everyone and everything I need to begin breeding. Most of all I have the dedication. If I didn't care, I wouldn't have even posted a message to receive feedback. However, I don't appreciate people responding to my post as if I am unworthy of being a breeder. Last edited by simonandhallie; 01-05-2006 at 08:01 PM.

Eddy, you might try the Regional Forums. Go to the "Northeast USA" and post your question. Maybe you will get a response to your question about an available sire for your females. Good luck to you!

| Hi Eddy; First I would like to say, "Welcome to YT". I want you to know, I am responding to your questions and request for advice. I believe if one wants to breed, they have done their research. They accent the breed to breed good looking, close to standard as possilbe. It is no ones business but their own. Everyone has that right. I as a small Breeder I start my Dam's at about 20 - 24 months. Yorkie's are Toy Dogs, it takes them longer to mature. 20 months is a good age to start breeding. The Dam's are completely grown and at that age you will know if they have any major illness or hereditary problems. I am sure there are some that are not detectable until alot older. I just recently retired my oldest at the age of 6. This decision was helped with advice from YT members here and my Vet. He made sense. After the age of 6 a pregnancy will take alot of Calcium from the mothers Bones and will bring out minor hidden problems. He also stated, "If a Dam can produce 3 - 4 Healthy Litters, don't you think she did her job for you?" Yes there are puppy mills that produce lots more and breed them in their latter years. But look at the poor Dam's health, her bones and teeth especially. Good luck on all your decisions. I am sure you will make the right ones. Your here asking, and that there shows alot of responsibility.

Hello again I really do appreciate the respectful and senseable responses I am getting from all. I have done all my research but still feel there is always more to be learned. Also, I think every single litter is an experience it its own right. Thank you Eddy V
