Anyone else hands on?? Thought this would give some funny visuals..what experience have you had with 'hands on breeding'? Sultan is my only stud and he is a tad shorter than the ladies of the house. He can hit the target but when they tie, he's little legs come up off the floor. I have to hold him on 'her' back until he can twist to the side other wise he'll be hanging by his 'man part'..lol. I know of a breeder that helps the male meet the target...who else can share some hand on experiences?? |
:lol tears :lol tears :lol tears Thanks for the great visual! |
ok, how about a short "x" rated video? Hummmmm AmandaG, I love your avatar. What a beautiful black/white pic. |

stud dogs I do not allow any male to breed to any female without help..it may be very little or a whole lot of help, but especially with stud service, I can not take the chance of someones dog being hurt..or mine. |

Yet another reason I am not cut out for this breeding stuff...I would feel like a voyeur or worse!! |
Awwwwwwwwwww, poor Sultan LOL!!!!!!!!!! He is such a beautiful stud!!!!!! |
Chester and Gracie did not breed unassisted. I held him up there and had to hold her open a little her first time. Then, after the tie, I layed them both down on their side so that they wouldn't hurt each other. |
So, I'm curious - - how long do they stay "tied" before they "untie"? I've heard it can take up to 20 minutes. Is that true? This visual is cracking me up. Funny how we would have to assist animals with something that you would think comes so natural. |
I too was a hands on helper. The stud we used was smaller than Belle and we had to hoist him up. He would try so hard so fast that we had to help otherwise he would have worn himself out. They always seemed to stay tied for about 20min. |
Oh my, never imagined this subject would come up on here so I could tell my story!! When our poodle was younger, I had someone approach me for stud service. He was a red toy poodle which is not very common in our area and they had a red female. Being ignorant about the whole breeding process, I talked in great lengths to a co-worker that knew it all and got lots of tips. Well, the female came to our house and stayed for a WEEK (that was rough!) because the owners had a vacation planned already. On the day I was told to put them together (kept them separate the rest of the time), I thought I was all prepared. Turned out though that Dax (mine) was a couple inches shorter than Penny (the girl) so I had to "help". I used a couple big fat phonebooks to stack behind her so he could reach and then after the tie, I helped him down and had to help him lift his leg around and over her (Wow, didn't realize before I got into this situation that they even DID that part - but I was coached on this). Then I had to keep them both calm and laid down until the tie was over. Being the first time for both of them, I knew it was crucial to keep them calm so nobody got hurt. It was incredible. This whole time my husband was out in the garage chatting with a friend and when I went out there with this awed look on my face, he could barely believe what I told him I just did! Had to do this one more time that week - second time was a lot easier on all of us. The outcome was 4 gorgeous red poodle pups - and boy was I a proud "grandma"! So for those that think that it's just put them in a room together and let nature takes it's course..... doesn't always turn out that way! ;) Oh, and I have to add..... knowing what I know now about how (most) males change after breeding, I would never do that again with a male indoor pet. The marking problems we had - ugh! I know a lot more on that subject now and definitely don't recommend it if you want a non-marking indoor male. Just my opinion! |
How about lap breeding? My female was afraid of the stud unless she was on my lap. Its a little hard to drink iced tea and talk casually when you have wrestling fur babies on your lap.......Im cracking up thinking of that day!!! The joys of breeding! |

Not only wrestling, but . . e-hem. . . intimately getting to know each other. . . . Wow, explain THAT one to a 10-year-old son that happens to walk through the room!! |
ha ha.................... My kids didnt go on that journey.....I wouldnt know where to begin. But they enjoy the puppies! |
OK, guys please try not to laugh....but my stud and bitch "do it" on my lap so that I can keep them together once tied without anyone getting injured. This way if one is a little shorter or taller, it is no problem to adjust them....roflmao! Lori |
Okay...this question is obviously coming from a non-breeder :D but what the heck is tied? Sorry if it's dumb. |

I have never had to help with breeding, I have stayed close at hand just in case so one dont hurt the other. But most Bitches will lay if needed. |
Thanks Robbie. I kinda figured, but thought I'd ask. :p |
smaller males to large females it's far safer to assist breed or lap breed. The tinier the male the more he will need assistance, I know one breeder that uses a phone book with a nonskid pad on top so the male can reach the female. |

HAHAHAHAH Talk about a LapDance  :animal36 :animal36 |
Rini, aren't you expecting puppies soon? When are they due? I cant wait to see pictures of them!!! |
Certainly not the LAPDANCE...I ever envisoned......hahaha....... :D .......but the puppies are irresistible!.......they are sold to wonderful homes..........but I think?......Should I KEEP one!!..........hahaha One of life's many curve balls. |
I have always assisted to make sure they don't get hurt. Depends on the feamles personality as how it will be managed. I Hint: I use pillows - to make the connection - if you know what I mean. LOL Get this - I also use to hold up the females back legs for a few minutes to make sure we got every last drop in. Oh man! Never thought I would type this up. :D T. |

You breeders are cracking me up! Maybe I should invent a doggy footstool and go into business. When I was a kid a neighbors mixed breed medium sized female dog mated with a little toy poodle. She backed up to a step for him :D |
