| Cares4Dogs | 03-15-2014 12:35 PM | update Mom and baby are doing very well. Im agonizing over getting this baby's tail docked and dew claws removed. Im worried about infection since she has no immunities as mother's milk still has not come in. I thought that maybe one nipple (the favorite) seemed that it might have gotten a tad of something, but I'm not certain. The reason I say that is cuz the one nipple is much larger than the others and it looks as though there is a small pocket where milk would/should be....very small though. It seems most of the nipples just act as pacifiers at this point.
Momma is doing an amazing job at keeping this baby happy and warm. She howls for her little one when I take her away for feedings. LOL wakes up the whole house all hours of the night. Im so thankful they have bonded. Being a singleton, I'm still worried her mother might reject her at some point. Someone will have to teach this baby to be a dog.
I will ask the vet about probiotics...maybe that might help give this little immune system a boost?? |
