Betty Pedram tea-cup-yorkies.com I'm wondering if there's anyone that has dealt with this woman? I think she seems nice and I don't want to say bad things about her. I was just wanting to know if she's a scammer. She's in Calgary. |
I have never heard of her, but I looked at the website. The pictures are photoshopped to make the dogs' and puppies' eyes look really big. That is a huge red flag. Secondly, words like teacup are marketing buzzwords. There is no such thing as a teacup Yorkie. One pup is listed as 9 ounces at 5 months old. That would be one of the world's smallest dogs. I believe trying to obtain a pup through this website will only lead to a loss of money or heartbreak. Where is the health guarantee she mentions on the first page? The only thing under the "guarantee" section in the menu is that she doesn't cover hypoglycemia. |
Want to add . . . don't be fooled by how nice a breeder comes across. Also, please do not ship a small dog. If you buy a puppy from out of state, insist on a human transporter who will take the puppy in the airline cabin and watch over him/her closely during the entire trip. |
Sorry, one more post . . . Sites like this one say "puppy broker" to me. I doubt she is breeding these dogs in her home. The pictures look a lot like the ones on a Florida broker site. Wish I could remember the name. |
Thank you! She said she'd be sending the puppy by courier, and admits to being a broker. She says she sells for a Korean Yorkie breeder, and explained that most breeders induce their dogs before they're due to get the micros. But says that the Korean Yorkies aren't bred that way. They're all tiny. She's giving me some references tomorrow. I've given my deposit, but want to make sure I do everything possible to make sure I'll be receiving my dog before paying for it. I;m just suspicious. Any recommendations on other things I might do? websites for bad breeders? I've seen bad reviews on the Florida breeder, and her facebook page show her map of where she's been, and its Florida. |

If you are lucky enough to receive a pup and it is the one in the picture you chose, my next concern would be health. I would be very nervous not knowing the breeding practices of the actual breeder (i.e genetic testing), not knowing anything about the pup's parents. Personally, there are so many red flags, I would ask for the deposit to be returned and I would look for a good breeder. Good luck in whatever you decide. |
I agree with Maximo, get your deposit back. I would look for an actual breeder and do some research before putting a deposit. Keep us posted. |
Thank you so much! Ive had a feeling all day about this. I knew in my heart that I need to get out. I'm just glad I didnt go through with it. Thanks for the support! |

BTW, FYI, Korea has a HUGE puppy mill business, it's horrifying & there's a few here in California. |

I just went to my paypal account to delete all of my credit card 3's just for safety, and I noticed the name on the bill is different than the website. She is A.K.A. Joanne Pauze. |
Betty Pedram is her facebook name. |

I just hope it does help someone else! :) |
what do you mean tags? curious. thanks. Quote:

I think what is meant by tags would be words, when put in as a search for something another person put in, l8ke puppy mill, puppy broker ( for this woman) unethical, scamner....I can think of other inappropriate words, but I won't go there, lol. I let this happen, lesson learned. Im not upset at all. It could've been a much worse situation. |
Excuse my ignorance, but when you say a Korean breeder does that mean the pup was shipped from Korea? If so, who the heck would do that? |
I have no idea, sje gave me the impression that Korean Yorkies were all tiny, thats all she said, and shes a liar. So I wouldnt trust anyone. Promoting that. I am normally a person that likes to buy witjin my own state, or the surrounding ones to help the economy around here. She wasdefinitely a con artist to convince me otherwise. I think buying out of our own country Iis definitely a mistake. They can never be prosecuted. In fact from what someone said, she may have fled Florida to continue scamming people. Not sure of that though. |
Imo, any "breeder" who throws the term "teacup" around is not to be trusted, especially if the only garantee they offer is the tiny size of the dog and the photos of their pups always involve a prop to demonstrate the tiny size of the pup..like a soda can or a packet of cigarettes etc Most of these greeders will sell their pups as young as 4 weeks old and tell the buyer that the puppy is older, they do this to make the buyer think the dog is super tiny and not just small because it's way too yong to away from its mother. I think its amusing that the breeder you mention is selling her pups and telling her possible buyers that all yorkies in Korea are tiny...she is literally implying that you are stupid and that you'll buy what she says without doing research, which is why you always have to do the oposite.Question everything and if something seems too good to be true, it's probably because it is.This is a touchy subject for me because I have be scammed by a breeder and I was so angry at myself for not being more patient and doing my research instead of falling for the first cute puppy I saw :( There are alot of crooks around, you really do have to be so careful. |
In the 6 months I've been here, I have learned so much to look out for. When I went to that website it made me sick to my stomach and I just wanted to cry. Those poor pups will more than likely suffer for the majority of their lives with some type of illnesses. Just the thought of them being in pain because they were created to be tiny breaks my heart. Its not their fault!!! Gah...I just can't stand it. These people have to be stopped somehow. Sorry I'm done with my rant. Just feel sorry for the puppies and uneducated owners that will have heartache in their future. OP, so glad you came here first!! You will find a great pup from a great breeder.:) |
