This is a question for "Sami"...I also had to have some dental work done on my male Yorkie. He had several teeth pulled and it ran $295. He had a double row of teeth earlier and had the duplicates removed and it didn't run nearly as high. Later (couple of years) the groomer mentioned that something seemed wrong with his gums and I might want the vet to take a look. I took him in for teeth cleaning and exam and picked him up without his front teeth and a $295 vet bill. There's no doubt he feels better, but we had been in for shots and such. I wonder why the teeth problem wasn't mentioned and doesn't the price tag seem a bit high? |
oh wow - IREED - did they pull the wrong teeth the first time ? Are you saying now your yorkie has no front teeth ? MANY many yorkies need to have the baby teeth pulled as they tend to double up - My oldest Chanel had perfect teeth that fell out on their own - but my youngest Cheri had to have 4 pulled - it was VERY reasonable and they did the surgery while she got spayed which is common practice. You sound like you were taken advanatage of by your vet - it shouldn't have cost that much and your yorkie should have ALL his teeth right now ! I really think you need to ask your vet what the heck they pulled the first time and why is your yorkie missing his teeth ? |

In my area $295.00 would be about the going rate for dentals and the lab panel done pre-op. My dentist also gives an IV antibiotic before doing dentals as wll as pain meds for the first night home. Maybe that is overkill, but it works for me. I recently bought a beautiful boy for stud but there was no sign of a second testicle at 5-6 months. I gave him to a wonderful family and he is living the life of a neutered Riley..... |
I got my little puppy at about 8 weeks. His testes had already dropped. But I swear they went back up and came down again after that. Anyway - descended testes are something you can check on before you buy a male puppy. If they have not dropped yet, it is something you should discuss with the breeder at the time of purchase. Especially if you plan to breed your little dog. Am I wrong - have I read that it costs a lot more to have a male neutered if his testes have not dropped??? This might be a consideration also.
