This is my point along with not knowing much about Yorkies  and he wants to breed???? |
? Why would a breeder sell a male for breeding without knowing he had testicles..? |

Well Yorkies are notorious for retaining their baby teeth. As for the breeding side of this, why would you want to breed if you don't know that faults that these little guys have in the first place, retaing teeth one of them. Second, don't use this as a bargaining chip to the breeder, it's not fair. She could just as easily sell you a female who will not come in heat or have other problems. Then what? If you are looking for breeding stock I think that you either have to buy male/female that are already grown up so you could know what you are getting and make sure that they are healthy, LP being one major health problems they are prone too. And usually the females go for more money then the males do, so I don't think that the breeder will be giving you any "deal". I would just take the little guy to the vets and have his baby teeth removed, and just wait the rest out, they may drop, sometimes it just takes a little longer for some... |

Thank you all for your comments. The breeder was very nice and I'm sure this will be resolved without any lawyers. I'll let you know how it turns out. BTW, that was a very fast response. I think I'll be hanging around this forum a lot more :) |
I'm happy that you didn't find any disrespect as to what we all replied. I'm sure that you will work this out on your terms. We just tend to get very "into" certain discussions, and we usually try to be civil but sometimes it goes the other way. Please, join us whenever you want we always like to hear differnt things that go on and keep us updated on what happens and if you decide to get a female in the future. Good Luck... |

Should he have lost his teeth by now? And what about his testicles? Is it possible that they will still drop? Thanks, Kyle Sorry Kyle if I mis-understood your statement "with the intentions of breeding" but as a person who did Yorkie Rescue I always jump in and defend the dogs first. We destroy millions of animals every year because of an overpopulation of animals, yes even Yorkies. The last thing we need is people breeding without any knowledge of the breed or genetic traits. It can be cruel to the mother (not built to breed) and it is cruel to the puppies and owners if bad traits/faults are passed on. It can also be very expensive. As this is your first dog you and your wife have a wonderful opportunity to learn a great deal about these special little wonders and between many books on the subject and the YT website you will learn more than you will ever want to know but need to know. If you are serious about breeding you will need to do alot of research to understand the pro's and con's of it for both the male and female. You might want to start here by doing a search on breeding and you will find many threads on this topic. We have some excellent breeders on this website who give excellent advice and you will learn a tremendous amount from them. Good Luck and Welcome to YT. |

As far the testicles, it is possible for them to still descend.. Have you had your vet look at that issue? I would take him to the vet and have the vet to a good exam on him as soon as possible! Did you sign a contract with the breeder you purchased him from? I know first hand about getting bit by a bad deal! I did sign a contract once and had over $4,500.00 in a show quality female.. To make a long story short she had two grade 4 luxating patellas and a c-section scar! I could of taken her to court, but why throw more money away.. JMO.. We take a chance everytime we buy a dog.. The younger the dog the more chances you take! Melanie |
problem That is good news..you did not buy him for breeding, so no harm done. He can have his puppy teeth removed at the same time he is neutered..best wishes. |
I don't know if anyone recommended this, but you can try to rub his tummy on each side of his penis everyday. That 'might' help them drop. My male chi didn't have one drop and I waited until he was almost 8 mo. to get fixed. The Dr. said is was very close to dropping and told me after the fact that sometimes rubbing helps move things around. |
