Hi Hiccup! Welcome to YorkieTalk :) Here's what I've learned since being a member of YT: I can't stress enough how important the phrase "buy your breeder first" really is. There's a lot of information here on YT that will certainly help you find that breeder that's perfect for you.:) Here's YTs guide from the library (it's found in the Forums list under Yoda the Yorkie's head): Guide to Finding a Reputable Breeder Here's a list to current AKC suspensions that may help you sift out those undesirables (sometimes people will register with other non-reputable registries when they've been suspended or removed from AKC): http://www.akc.org/about/secretarys_page.cfm Also, I’d like to mention if you use YorkieTalk’s Search function, (use the Advanced Search to see all of the search options) there’s a Tag box where you can put in a Breeder’s name to search YT for threads related to a chosen breeder. You'll find all kinds of discussions; some good, some bad so that's why researching the breeder first is so very important! |

Hiccup8, PLEASE DO NOT visit the site below to purchase your puppy...I checked the Yorkie breeders in CA from vadzilla & some are known to be puppy mills & brokers/re-sellers!:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown You can do a search here on YT & you'll find numerous threads about these greeders. You can also ask us about any breeder you want to get reviews on. Vadzilla doesn't screen any of the breeders on their site...buyer beware! Quote:

Yes, Vadzilla.com doesnt pre-screen breeders, just like Tripadvisor.com doesn't pre-screen hotels (LET'S BASH IT TOO !!!). What we do, is give you tools to locate breeders and provide their contact information, which will make the screening process simpler. Yuck, I agree, I checked CA and some of the worst breeders around are on there. Bummer to be promoting such a site here. |
