nesting my girl is 62 days today and strted nesting how long will this last before the babes are born?? |
She could whelp any time between 63 - 68 days along depending on when she was breed. Keeping track of her temp is one of the best ways to tell if your gal is ready or getting close. What do you mean by nesting? Is she digging in her whelping box? Most commonly females have their pups between the 61st to the 63rd day. I have had some whelp sooner and I have had some whelp much later. It does not necessarily depend on what day they are bred but when their eggs drop. Male sperm can live up to 5 days or longer in the female's uterus. The earliest signs of labor is usually restlessness. They might walk around some, lay down some, pee frequently and as the labor progresses they will start panting and digging in their whelping box. As the pups progress through the birth canal the momma may have several bowel movements. Some also start vomiting. As for how long does it take, each female is different. I have had some deliver the first pup within a few hours of the first signs of labor and other might go through the panting and digging stage for a number of hours. If it is the first litter it usually takes long and also the size of the bitch might effect how long it will take. Once the hard labor starts most pups are born within one hour. |

hello shes doing ok but refusing to eat today and shes 63 days so mabey shes getting ready she keeps digging in her bed but no pups yet |
It sounds like she is getting close. Watch her very close. Often they will not eat right before delivering pups. Once she starts having pups it is good to give them a little nutri-cal or you can make some sugar water using corn syrup and water. You can offer her a little throughout her delivery. I also always offer mine water too if it is a long delivery. Once all the pups are delivered I will offer the new momma some food. Sometimes they will be very hungry and sometimes they might not be. I pray everything goes well for you and your girl. |

help shes in labout 2 sacs apeared one broke but now theother one is sticking out she has a bit of green discharge coming out |
The first sac might of been a water sac. Is she pushing hard? It sounds like the puppy is presenting itself. Can you feel the puppy? If she does not have a pup within an hour you better get her to the vet. |

She should be having hard contraction now. She should have hard contractions then rest a few minutes. You should be able to see the puppy coming further out after each contraction. |
no all i see is one sac and green discharge she keeps pushing but the sac wont come out |
I would take her to the vet immediately if she has been pushing hard and no puppy can be felt. To tell if the puppy is making progress coming out you feel below her tail when she is pushing and if the puppy has presented itself you will feel a hard lump above the vulva. Sometimes it can take an hour to work the puppy out. Sometimes a green discharge before the first pup is born can be an indication of trouble, not always but sometimes. |

Please do not let the vet office close before you decide what your plan of action is going to be. If you have never whelped a litter of puppies and you do not know what is an indication of a problem, I would take my lady to my vet and let them get this done....you could easily end up loosing the momma and the babies. I hate to be the alarmist here, but I have seen this happen toooooo many times.............Did you have her xrayed??? Do you know positions and how many and if they can even fit through the pelvic ring??? |

If you don't know what to do, you owe it to your girl to get her to the vet ASAP. Don't chance losing her or these pups trying to live. Please. |
Have you taken that baby to the vet yet? If you aren't experienced in whelping puppies then you definitely need a vet's assistance. Last thing you want to have happen is for all dogs involved pass away. Please hurry, run don't walk to your nearest Vet... Please let us know what is happening as we are all concerned about your baby!! |

Its been more that 6.5 hrs. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Hopefully she will check in with us soon, sending positive thought that all went well. |

Did you help to deliver these dogs yourself or let the vet take over? Yeah, I imagine poor little mommie dog is exhausted. Seems like it's been hours and hours. Were all of the pups born alive or any stillborn? |
yes 2 where breach and 2 came normal i did it all myself they are all healthy so far ill update lter sy |

Congratulations on your new litter. I am glad things went well. It's a lot of work isn't it? Sometime that last pup is hard to detect. Often you will feel a big hard lump after all the pups are born but it is just the uterus contracting. . |
