| Breeding Back question hello needed a question answered. PepperAnn had pups 1 month ago on 17 Nov. she has a sweet smell to her at the back end. it smells like the same smell when she was in heat. but i hope not. i have a unneutered male in the yard and do not want her breed to anything at all at this time. I thought she would not come back in for a few months like normal.

| ? If she had pups 4 weeks ago, she is not in heat again. I would have the vet check the discharge to make sure it is not infection. You might consider neutering your yard dog..why take the chance? |

| It would be impossible for mommy to be in heat again unless she has a hormonal imbalance. From the day of her last heat you count that again to her next heat. If she cycles every 6 months then it would be 6 months to her next one. god bless |

| Have the dog in the yard neutered while mom is NOT in heat. The smell you describle would concern me..pyometria or other infection could be the producer of the odor.. |

I was thinking maybe anal glands?...The best advise is take her to the vet. The 2nd best advise is get that male neutered! It will benefit his health as well as prevent accidents. Irene | |

| Vagina Smell ok I took her to the vet this morning. see the smell is coming from her vagina. the vet examed her and said it is lokia (sp) it is a cleaning out process the uterus goes through after birth. sometimes right away somtimes later. he went ahead and gave me some antibotics for her. so there we have it.... she had no swelling or any sign of infection just that sweet but peeeuuu smell like i thought she was in heat.... thanks for the replies
