[B][I]I'm Willis and Cassie's Mom.....DON'T believe everything a breeder tells you. I love Willis and Cassie with all my heart. I have done everything to save their lives. Yes, they both had Liver Shunt disease. They have both had surgery. Any breeder that has so many puppies for sale and breeds so many sires and dams is only trying to make money (in my opinion). I'm begging you, do a lot of research. Research ALL genetic diseases and all diseases that are hereditary. Liver Shunt is hereditary and is devastating. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I wish you all the luck in the world. Please insist on a blood bile acid test BEFORE you take your baby home.

I love that site. I also love Willis and Cassie with all my heart. They are MY liver shunt survivor babies. You give GREAT advise, too. ALWAYS insist on a blood bile acid test BEFORE you take your new baby home. It could save you millions of tears and thousands of dollars. Willis and Cassie are doing GREAT...but I'm still paying for bile acid tests....actually, they are both due for their next tests.

In my opinion, since liver shunt is hereditary, both sires involved should have been neutered and both dams should have been spayed. Any good breeder would have done that. Or any good breeder would do that. Any sires, dams, brothers, sisters, etc...of a liver shunt dog should be spayed and/or neutered. That is necessary to stop this disease. Also, any good breeder will produce a rock solid blood bile acid test with any puppy sold.

Any good breeder would have their sires/dams test for liver shunt or any other problems BEFORE they started breeding at all.

I Live in Pittsburg, Ks. How strange is this, haha. I could go check them out for you.

StewiesMom is so right - before breeding the owner should have their dogs tested. Plain and simple! :thumbup:

I agree that the parents should be tested....BUT, what if the liver shunt gene came from the grandparents? Or the great grandparents? The sire or dam may not even have liver shunt. BUT, they will produce puppies or a puppy that has liver shunt. The actual PUPPY has to be tested for liver shunt. That's why the entire line has to be spayed and neutered to stop this disease.

Willis&Cassie... I am sorry for your expearince and the tramma that it must have put you and your family through... It was not my intent to rehash this for you or for Pam.

I would really like it if I did not receive any more private messages from your friends claiming to be other owners with Liver Shunt pups... Yes they admitted that it was you that they Knew and not another pet owner... I find this very dishonest.

Again, I am sorry for your loss and your pain...

I ask that you please respect my ability to make up my own mind and have your friends stop contacting me.

I apologize for anyone personally contacting you. However, I didn't ask anyone to contact you. Yes, I have numerous friends with liver shunt babies. There is nothing dishonest about that. I've developed all of these friendships from trying to gain knowledge about liver shunt. I pray I never have to share my knowledge with you....too many people seek me out begging me for help and advise for their sick babies. I pray we never meet again, Kathryn.

It is dishonest when they claim to have purchased their pups from Shadow Creek Kennels, which was their claim until I asked for copies of registrations, as I do not believe in bad mouthing without proof.

Again, I am very sorry for your pain. I have talked with many others who have purchased from SKK who have very happy and healthy pups. I have yet to come across another who was unhappy with Pam and her Kennel. And yes, I have been looking since reading your page on Liver Shunt. If she was a bad breeder or a mill, I would have found plenty on her... the facts just do not add up for me to make that harsh a call.

I too pray that we never meet on this issue; however, if by chance we were to meet, I would be more than happy to have made your acquaintance.

Just wanted to say that I know Pam and John Martin of Shadow Creek Kennels and purchased my first gorgious, healthy puppy from them. I've researched different breeders, read numerous stories, talked to my vet which is ALSO their vet and am thrilled with my Little Deuce of MashelliNTeeJay.
Pam and John are the kindest, most genuinely concerned people you will meet. I have been to their house several times and can tell you first hand that those Yorkies are high quality and extremely socialable. I don't mind paying for qualities like that.. and in fact am buying another from them.
I really got lucky in finding my puppy as most ALL of theirs are sold before they hit the ground. I feel very fortunate to know them, have them as friends, and to have bought my Deuce from them with excellent blood lines. I was in the Greyhound business before....years ago and did not like it much...I didn't have a choice then....was married and that was HIS main business.

I delivered hundreds of puppies, de-dew clawed them, gave all shots, etc. cared for them ALL (mommas too) from babies to adults, trained them, sent them to tracks, sold them, etc.

I'm so excited about my Yorkie...and he absolutely LOVES me and my home.

Again, I could not be more pleased with my experiences at Shadow Creek Kennels. And, Pam and John will be my friends for life.

My lil girl is so amazing! And so is Pam for her kind and loving attention. Its nice to see yet another happy customer of hers... I am starting to find alot of them! Its very reasuring!

After reading this thread, I checked out their website & I think I might be getting a female puppy from them! She said she is having a few litters in the next 3 weeks, so hopefully there is a female puppy in one of those for me!! I want to get her at the end of Feb to beginning of March, so that would be perfect timing! You & another person had such great things to say about them, so I had to check it out. I liked what I saw, & hopefully my baby girl will be born soon!! Please keep us updated on your experience w/ them!

Also, I live in Kansas, so you should come to Wichita & have our pups play or maybe meet in the middle!! That would be so cool!! :p :D

I got an email from Pam this evening and I know for a fact that she will have a girl for you! And she had to cut her email short as she was delivering pups tonight! Her Dam was in labor! I am so excited for you! You will be very pleased with her! She is an amazing woman! I will keep you posted on my pick up with Pixie and I know Brenda will post about her boy!

YAY!!!!! I'm so excited! Although I won't be able to put a deposit down until they are 6 wks old. Aghhhh....the waiting!! It sucks! Oh, I so hope she had a girl in her litter!! :p I am so excited about getting girl puppy clothes now!! And yes, we might need some hand-me downs!! Although, if I start buying now, she could have a full closet in about 8 wks!! hahaha!! :D I think my husband would kill me though! :p

I got another email from pam telling me that you contacted her! She had a long night of delivering pups! But I know that your girl is there! he he he.... Waiting is such torture! But if I can do it... so can you!!! We should start a new thread! One where we can post about your wait! and give you tons of support! Its hard!

You'll be sending her a deposit in no time, I am sending her out the remaining 1000 I owe on tues, so my gal will be paid in full! Yeah! I need to send it before I spend it on more puppy clothes! lol I bought an outfit from Jodi... I'll attach a pic.. I am sure that she will grow out of it... so here is a peek at one your future hand me downs! ;)

WOw....I love reading these threads!! I LOVE that outfit!! I only have one for Deuce. Kathryn, I'm SO glad you called yesterday.. I would have talked alot more but my boyfriend was here and I didn't want him to see me acting all crazy. He's already SOOO jealous of Duece. Since I got Deuce, I hardly sit next to Brad at all. I'm always on the floor with Deuce or holding him or loving him or SOMETHING. He's such a sweet furball. Guess what I got for Christmas?!?!??!?!?!?! My sweetie is soooo sweet. JUST what I NEED!! A DIGITAL CAMERA!!!! NOW I can really take pics and send them right from the computer. NO MORE driving to Walmart to get the film developed. YEAH YEAH. I'm taking it with me to Pam's to get pics of Pixie for you. You're right ....we need to start our own thread.

OMG!!! I asked for a digital! But he said that if he got me everything I had asked for for christmas, he would have no ideas for my birthday which is right around the corrner on the 15 of Jan! So I will have to wait for mine!

I am sooooo glad I called too! You are such a wonderfull person to chat with and we absolutly have to keep in touch! I am so excited! You know pam wrote me last night and was delivering pups all night! How exciting! She was pooped!

Since our two were born 5 days apart.... I say we start a tradition of exchanging birthday gifts between the two! I would love to buy for a boy! I have seen alot of really cute stuff!

Looks like Lucky's Mom is going to be joining us in our new thread, as she is looking at getting a girl from Pam! Yeah!!!

That outfit is precious!! I can't wait to get girl clothes!! I was at the mall today & saw some girl puppy clothes & I almost bought some! :p I can't wait!!!! And yes a digital camera is a must!!! Lucky has his own photo album! :D
