| ![]() I had a discussion with a friend and thought I'd bring it to YT for opinions. Do you think after raising a puppy for 12 or 16 weeks that the puppy will remember you after a year or more with its new family? Have any of you that are breeders got any thoughts or experience with their pups remembering them after a year or more of not seeing them?* |

| ![]() Many people have returned to my home to visit some time after taking a puppy and I find they seem to have a sense of familiarity and comfort with the surroundings more than a specific memory of me as caregiver. Many puppies have run straight to the particular room they grew up in.

| ![]() I made a house call to one of my new parents when the baby they had gotten from me was almost a year old....The lady said the little dog actually heard my vehicle pull up in the drive way and she went nuts, running in circles, barking and crying, and ran to the back door and waited for me to come up to the back door! When I entered the house, she went nuts she was soooo excited to see me....she CLEARLY remembered me and was so happy to see me again! I always kiss my babies lots and lots, on their mouths and on their heads and cheeks, and she was licking and then pushing her little head up against my mouth and then her cheeks...it was very heart warming! |

| ![]() Yes I think they remember you. I had one who was 18 mos. old run up to me in a vet's office and start scratching for me to pick her up. She had changed so much I didnt know her. She was on a leash and the owner was surprised too. When I spoke to her she went crazy. Then I asked where she got the puppy and I died laughing. The people in the vet's office couldnt believe she knew me.

| ![]() I don't know about remembering their breeders but Laddy met my sis and bro in laws when he was a puppy of 5 months old, they came and stayed 2 weeks with us and he would wake my BIL up every morning with kisses. Well they came again for a visit 2 years later and he woke him up the same way the first morning and every morning they were here. Keep in mind that is the only person he has ever done this to. Not even DH and myself get that treatment lol so I know he remembers him.

| ![]() Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences. I'd like to believe that those puppies who had a start with a loving breeder remember them forever.* |
