BUT, the person that sold you your furbaby would not get ONE RED CENT from me. She should NOT make money from BEING STUPID. BOY, can you tell me this whole thing has me fuming???? Louise |
Where did the OP go? Hope everyone is ok. |
Hi everyone! I'm here!! My baby had her babies yesterday. I think she was over due as they seem a bit 'older' than they are. If that makes sense? I have scales, but they aren't working right so I'm going to Walmart today to try to find something that will work for weighing them. She has three puppies. Two females and one male. From the time she started pushing, it took her 2 hours and 10 minutes until she was done. She had a hard time with the first one, last two were easier. I was nervous, but I "think" I did everything right. I wondered if I could post pictures here so you guys could let me know what you think of them? I think they are precious! :lovewings They have much darker markings than the other Biewer I have. The breeder keeps contacting me to see how she is doing. I think she 'suspects' something. She doesn't know for sure about the puppies. I have not let the stud owner know yet. I was going over pedigrees and my girl's lineage are mostly champions. I think there are 2-3 that aren't. Now, I'm watching them closely to be sure that they are all nursing. I have supplement with wee bottle for them as well. I appreciate everyone's advice so much! Any advice on things now, would be SUPER! Thanks! |

If you want to dock tails you need to go to the vet at day 3 and up to day 5. Also did you count the placentas and made sure you had 3 for 3? If unsure go to vet for shot to expel placentas. Going to the VET protect your pups. Bring carrier. Put your blanket on examining table. Having an assistant with you is a great boone. They can park car, help carry, what-ever. Try to get either first appointment of the day or last appointment. Do not let MOM or PUPS touch ground in the vets office. Watch Mom carefully too. Examine all teats for redness, swelling, odor, discharge, Mom's temperature. Make sure you feed Mom enough calcium. A scrambled egg daily has enough calcium for her. And my dogs love eggs:) Of course keep Mom and Pups in quiet secure place that is draft free. Wash Mom's feet when she / if she goes out to potty. Disinfect whelping room daily, and change bedding as needed, which might be 2-3 or more times per day. First week is critical, Second and third week important. You survive the first three weeks, you can begin to breathe easier, if pups are gaining and thriving, and Mom is doing well. |
Thank you for updating. Glad the breeder is showing concern for the dog and pups. I'm still personally disgusted she asked for more money rather than saying hey return her for me to care for her and the pups, then you can have her back. I'm guessing the breeder knows you have no whelmpibg experience, so making financials the concern is very telling about her character. Thankfully but also unfortunate you have great breedees here to offer advice in care for the best interest of the mom and pups. Do you hace other pets in your home. Dont forget about dew claw removal. |
Congrats 'Grandma'!!! Glad all is well so far....thanks for updating. |
I just read this thread and am just in shock. I give you so much credit and kudos on handling this to the best of your ability. Your an amazing dog loving person. I hope your puppies and your yorkie stay well and healthy. What an amazing story and thanks for keeping us updated as it all progressed. Just wow !!! |
Thanks for all of the good advice! I don't think Biewer tails are docked?? I do have a question and it may seem silly, but I was reading online all of the techniques that people use to make their dogs' ears stand. Is this something I should be doing now and if so, what is the best way to do it?? Thanks!!! |

The tails aren't docked. Dew claws should be removed on day 3. Don't worry about taping ears at this age. At two weeks I do start shaving them to keep the weight of the hair off. Sometimes this is enough for them to pop up by themselves at 6 or so weeks. If hey don't come up, start taping and sometimes it takes more than a few times. If the pups are nursing well and gaining, there is no need to supplement and during the first few days you want them to fill up with mom's colostrum. This is how they receiver her immunity against diseases. Glad everything is going well. |
1 Attachment(s) Thank you all SO much for all of the help, support and good advice! If I do this right, there should be a photo attached to this message. |

The babies are adorable!! I'm so glad mom and pups are doing well. Thank you bchgirl for helping this lady, and to all other ppl and breeders who put out their time...you have been a Godsend. YT rocks!! |
So cute!!!! Start asking breeders about sales cobtracts...another thing to ad to what I can only imagine is a HUGE to do list! Lots of pics, you might never do this again but looking back sleepless nights and will be forgotten over the memories of cute puppy happenings! |
Just read your entire thread! What a wild ride you have been on! Congrats on the healthy babies... They are adorable! And good luck in everything to come... Tough situation all around! |
I was just thinking if you give the breeder money is she saying she would offer 1. whelping help 2. Sales contract 3. Will she cover these pups with her health guarentee 4. Will ahe assume vet costs 5. Is she offering the sires owner pick of the litter or was it cash? Money for pups with no effort or expense...or the morality reputable breeders take on. |
Wow just read the thread....you did great. Congrats on your puppies. They are so adorable |
Wow! Just read this thread and Congratulations on all of the new additions to your family! You did a fantastic job! Keep us posted on how mom and pups are doing. The pups are so cute! |
OH MY!!! I just read your post and replies. I cannot believe that anyone would breed a dog that is only 12 months?? Isn't that dangerous? Congrats on the puppies and very glad they are all healthy and absolutely beautiful! In MY opinion you do not owe the seller that you bought her from anything, that includes NO MORE MONEY!! Good luck and what gorgeous pups! :) |
Ahh congratulations! Pups are adorable! |
Just read the thread and so proud of our yorkietalk family for helping with all the great advise!!!! The babies are so adorable!!!! Please share more pictures!!! Would love to see momma too. Hoping the breeder has wised up and agree with the others, I wouldn't give her a dime. Insane she put your poor baby girl through that at such a young age!!!!!! Kisses to your babies |
Wow. Just read this thread. Just incredable that a breeder would breed such a young female and then sell it without knowing if it was pregnant or not!! If she had any kind of breeding experience she had to have known. I would not pay her a cent. Unless you plan on selling these pups as show prospects why bother getting the papers for them at all? Do you know how to evaluate a show prospect? They usually need to be at least 5 to 6 months old to estimate what quality they may turn out to be. Why not find them good homes and sell for a few hundred dollars just to make sure the people will value the babies. The money is not as important as making sure they have perfect forever homes but you do need to charge them at least a few hundred dollars for them. Many breeders sell puppies without breeding rights for $800.00 to $1500. If you charged $400 to $500 for these little dolls it would be more than reasonable considering how much time and effort you put into raising them. Maybe you would want to keep one for yourself. Maybe you have friends or family who would want one. I'm sure you will find perfect homes for them if you do a great interview process. |
wow just read through the entire thread...congrats on your new little family..and i wouldn't say anything to the previous owner about the puppies. She sold away all rights when she sold you your little baby. |
