| ![]() I have a 3 yr old Yorkie that just gave birth. Unfortunately we lost 4/5 of the pups but one healthy one remains alive. She was born three days ago and was the largest pup at 2.0oz. She is 3.3oz today and appears to be energetic and moving around the whelping box. My big question is how do I know she is getting enough food from her mamma? She latches on for about 10 min but only about 3 times a day. I try to latch her on every two hours but some of the time she just doesn't latch. She just opens her mouth on the teat and then closes it and slides off the teat. Is there something else I should be doing. Also, I have to place her on the teat every time. Should I be doing this or just let her find it on her own? |

| ![]() Have you ever had babies before? Have you ever supplemental fed a baby before? Have you ever tube fed a baby before....she seems to be gaining weight, but puppies need to eat more than 3 times a day....you have had the baby checked by a vet? No cleft palate? Are you keeping her warm?? Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 07-22-2012 at 04:00 AM. |
