Once the female is pregnant, the puppies will grow to the size available to them, so even though it seems counterintuitive, a small female dog can carry pups from a giant breed male dog. Even where there is no size mismatch, says Kustritz, if a female dog has only one pup, it will grow to fill the space, thus becoming larger and more likely to cause dystocia (difficulty whelping) than would pups from a large litter. I take it she free whelped as well. That's good and no ruptured uterus. Congratulations on the litter...sounds like mommy knows what she is doing. :) |

Thank you - me too on the vet check - Back when this happened - I WAS upset - When Ray Ray was in heat - they had one big dog - (their daughters) out in the yard for 2 weeks straight - then another dog broke thru the fence - What I saw and tried to stop..... was 2 dogs on top of poor Ray Ray - they don't really know who did what ... I just know I was totally upset all day after that happened - and nope - they didn't take her to the vet after it happened.... though I did try to convince them - and no ....they didn't know she was pregnant till today.....after seeing puppies. I don't like the way they are as dog parents ...but they are trying really hard and I think will take care of the puppies - but Ray Ray shouldn't have had to go thru this in the first place. ps...they will be getting Ray Ray spayed - so all in all I think it will have a happy ending - and it looks like Chanel and Cheri will be getting more Spy buddies :) You guys are so great to talk to - after reading your replies I REALLY felt so much better and I know Ray Ray would thank you if she could ! |

Chanel is missing her girlfriend at the fence - she keeps looking for Ray Ray and cocking her head ...poor baby - her best friend is too busy for her now. :) |
But just wait until there are little puppies for Chanel to spy on!!! |
