female infertile or could it be??? Good morning all, A friend of mine has a female yorkie, 4 years old, healthy and has been trying to breed her. She has not taken though. Could this be a health issue? Her test for Brucellosis was negative...She is stumped..Some say this could happen and maybe wait a few more years....Any advice for her??

female She is 4 yrs..ONE more year and it will be too late for a first time breeding IMO...in fact I do not do a first time breeding past 3. IF a female has been bred at two different heats, to two different proven males at the correct time during her cycle.. and no pups..then the chances are very slim she will ever have pups. Fertilty decreases with age, just like with us humans.

Next time she is in heat- have a progesterone test done- blood test that will pinpoint when or if she is ovulating. I agree with all that Yorkie Rose stated in her previous post. Best of luck
